I think that when you are playing music though you speakers, if there's a lot of bass or it really loud it should make your windows wiggle a bit if you the feature enabled.

I'm imagining a website that deals with third-party jobs and careers that specifically deals with Ubuntu.
This can be from setting up an Ubuntu server to becoming a full-time software architect developing a game on Ubuntu.
This doesn't not deal specifically as jobs for Canonical, although they could post there as well.
It would be more like a marketplace where a job could come in from all over the world, possibly specific to an area if physical contact is required.
Companies could set up job offers whenever needed and programmers could bid on the job. Or, in reverse, users could post their Ubuntu-related experience and companies could find potentially employees.
Why http://jobs.ubuntu.com? I've found a growing number of posts on http://ubuntuforums.org that deal with Ubuntu-related employment, but not every potential employee will be looking at that specific post in that specific sub-forum.
I have also personally been contacted by a local web development company because they needed someone to set up a LAMP server based on Ubuntu. They searched "Ubuntu" + "my home town" and my resume came up.
That worked out well, but this could be set up for jobs just as mentioned, but on a global scale.
What do you think?
Thinking: Intrepid + 2.

Request to mark as 'implemented'

Since there are not enough moderators to go around and constantly update all 10,000 ideas, I suggest having a 'implemented' queue, just as there is a 'duplicate' queue, where a user can mark the idea as "implemented" and a moderator has the choice to approve or decline.
Why am I suggesting this?
Because my idea "Fix "Places > Connect to Server..."" has already been implemented between GNOME 2.20 and 2.22 ( http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/1549/) and this gentleman's "Fix Major Bug in ShipIt Website " has been fixed as well ( http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/6539/).
Both have stayed flagged as 'new' for over 1 month and 2 months respectively.

Allow users to right-click a photo and left-click "Set as wallpaper" in Nautilus.
This can be implemented by installing 'nautilus-wallpaper'.
Please include this as a default.

Integration with online services

It has been generalized in the past that the desktop is merging with the Internet and its services (in some form or another) and that TV will merge with the Internet until the two are indistinguishable. This may be a little ways into the future, but it is coming.
I'm a web developer and although I am not a big social-website user, I still believe a highly beneficial product for Ubuntu would be integration with social websites such as Last.FM, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, MySpace, etc.
For two reasons:
1) This sort of integration has not been seen by Apple or Microsoft and would be a great migration point for users
2) This sort of integration is coming to the desktop in the near future, so it's good to start thinking of it now, rather than later.
I'm not just talking of F-Spot supporting MySpace or Rhythmbox supporting Last.FM, I'm speaking of real integration with Nautilus to the point where you can right-click a photo (or multiple) and click "Upload to Facebook". Then, if you're not logged on, it prompts you for your password, and continues on. However, this functionality would be available to all forms of media and website (audio, video, pictorial, etc.). What would be needed, however, is drivers for each website. If we built a framework that would enable open-source drivers to be built for each website, then ultimate usability and flexibility would be achieved.

GUI for CLI (command line) with Piping features like the GUIs for audio piping

Idea ;
Advances
In the event that a GUI system becomes available for accessing the CLI (command line interface), the following additional advancements could be made;
1) Commands could be arranged in pipes by using a graphical manipulator similar to the patchboxes and GUIs used for linking software audio devices.
The command is given its own "black box" (click on it to see internal properties). It has its input and output. Connect the boxes together with lines to form your command pipe.
2) Drag and drop method of concatenating commands, taking output from one process to the input of another.
3) "black box" could be any thing from a GUI created script, through to a fully automated process done by a large program.
An example of an automated program in a pipe;
(use of Graphics editor and FTP programs)
Inside one box;
Open picture in editor,
detect extremities (head feet arms) of subjects,
remove tilt of camera,
crop to extremities of subject,
color adjustment,
resize to common width,
save as jpeg optimised to 20 to 30kB,
close editor.

I know the Idea sound stupid . first time it hit me I said to my self what stupid idea too, but let me explain please
The first thing windows users said when you tell them about Linux/Ubuntu is "it is hard, u need to learn commands to use it" and they don't understand that 95% of the time we use CLI because we love it.
imagine this title in Ubuntu website "Ubuntu 8.10 is so easy you don't need terminal any more" thats will encourage windows people to try it, and for all of old Ubuntu users I'm sure if you know how to use CLI you will know how to install it

Make WINE a part of the default install

So many people have Windows programs as the only thing keeping them from making a full transition from Windows to Linux. Perhaps it would be possible to make WINE a part of the Ubuntu install, so newbies could still use many of their Windows programs? Perhaps the first time they click on an EXE a window would pop up, saying that it'll run in WINE and may not work (as WINE is not quite perfect - yet anyways).

Kde 4 has its compositing window manager, instead gnome hasn't it. To have some bling a user should install compiz but it's not really reliable software, instead i see that you're working on clutter (for ubuntu mobile), it will be a great job to improve metacity using clutter as foundation library and move results upstream to the gnome community.

Replacement of Gnome as main supported GUI with KDE, XFCE or you name it

Now days I don't see any advantages for Gnome.
On the other hand XFCE is much, really much , "lighter" and includes all functionality Gnome provides.
While KDE has very-very rich functionality while it's footprint is simply lower. And I am still not talking about KDE4 :-) which seems to be even more polished in footprint, architecture and look-and-fill.
For all Gnome advocates:
Yes once, Gnome was tiny DE. And person who willed to use simple taskbar and few buttons, would prefer Gnome.
But today it's not like that anymore. Gnome is still same "thin-client like" environment and simply far-far outdated by it's functionality and eats more resources then you ever dreamed of. Only one software product (the latest from famous blue-screen makers :-)) behaves similarly.
I am pretty sure Canonical developers has to re-invent the wheel every single day, while core technologies for their needs are just ready and waiting for the to use, and irony here that they are also maintained and located on same repository.
Can anyone provide me with reasonable explanation why Gnome is main stream in Ubuntu?
Can't Canonical just post a poll for that?
There are tons of code that waisted and duplicated when several DE are trying to sync functionality, is that rational?
Note:
I want to ask for forgivness in advance, from hard working Gnome developers who's feelings I might hurt.
I am developer my self, and I know the feeling when your creation has to die, but I believe that time, of natural causes.
P.S.
Strike me with your opinions, I'll be happy to discover new things or maybe even change my mind.

Create an Ubuntu Music Store where people can buy DRM FREE music (ogg, flac) online. Just like the stores included in Rhythmbox, but should offer music from the big labels, not only no-name artists.

An option to install XGL when enabling 3d effects for ATI grsphics cards

Because the fglrx drivers do not support algix people with ati cards can not have 3d effects unless they install XGL. Its easy to install ('sudo apt-get install xserver-xgl' in terminal) but most beginners would not know how to do this. In order for beginners to have 3d effects, give them a dialog asking them if would like xgl to be installed and explaining to them that they need it for the effects and vaguely it what is.
Sorry for typo in title I cant change it.

I know many people who have tried to install Ubuntu to try it out, but it didn't work due to Grub failing to install. Unfortunately they do not know anything about Linux (if they did they could probably fix this on their own), so they couldn't use Ubuntu and had to go back to Windows!!
It would be great to sort of have a 'plan B' for the boot loader installation, because many people are completely repelled from Linux just because of this tiny problem!
Or go with a BETTER SOLUTION: Fixing the bug!
