The Ubutnu is a popular distribution, and the choice of their standard theme should be made by all by voting. And not by a small group. The community can elect the theme through the Ubuntu Brainstorm.

For the choice of a new theme that is the satisfaction of the majority that idea is essential.

---------------------
Edited:
Initially thank you all. This idea may help it to developers in the choice, and can have an extra theme.

Can serve as a basis for changes in the theme chosen by the team of Ubuntu, even if the popular themes are not adopted.

This idea will help.

Graphical GRUB with easy and advanced recover and backup system options

Graphical GRUB with easy and advanced recover and backup system options

The Ubuntu GRUB would have extra options:
- Backup and recover of the system
- Access to the secondary kernel versions list
- Memory Test
- Recovery Mode.

See the Blueprint below

Blueprint

I developed a Blueprint of how all this would be, making possible the graphical visualization of my ideas. I'm sure that all of it is easy to implement, because the tools to realize these processes already exist.

With this we would have a more organized GRUB, and with options that a lay person would know how to deal with in case of a wrong configuration of the system, recovering it on accessing the essentials backup files of configuration. Or in a worse case, even the entire partition image, where the problem is unrecoverable even with the recovering of the system files.

A center of Welcoming is a necessary tool for new users. Here you perform the main tasks and configure your desktop soon after the installation standard.

It would be very good that the next Ubuntu has this facility. The Ubuntu is a success among new users and many of them do not know that the possibilities included in the center of welcome there.

I hope that my idea at all like. I have developed a new mockup seeking to improve understanding of my mind. Thanks for the tip brettalton.

Ubuntu in film and TV serials.
Written by nq6 the 28 May 08 at 01:21. Category: Marketing. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
The Ubuntu can be promoted through movies and serials. This type of marketing would be excellent for the popularization of Ubuntu.

It would be very nice to see your character preferred use of the advantages it offers. A secret agent in an investigation is facing a PC with HD damaged. And access to the Internet is crucial to solve their problems. Then the secret agent uses LIVE CD of Ubuntu connects to the Internet. Making contact with their base. And thus solving their problems forever.

An example would be Jack Bouer the series 24 hours by contacting the CTU.

The marketing used in films and TV serials, has an excellent return. I would love to see that solution. It would be very good for the popularization of Ubuntu.

A session for mockups and screenshots
Written by nq6 the 4 Jun 08 at 12:21. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Many ideas are concepts that are difficult of being written. E these ideas are of easy graphical representation. The Ubuntu Brainstorm must have a session to place the ideas represented graphically.

If you are to designer you know to use graphical programs, you have as to contribute!

Ideas as a new menu, a new screen, a new concept or adjustments in the graphical interface. Very they are well come.

The Gimp has one blog with this idea in practical.
http://gimp-brainstorm.blogspot.com/

It would be very good.

The Youtube is a tool of success worldwide. The Ubuntu should have a unique channel that site. It developers include tips, tutorials, explanatory videos, promotional videos, advertisements, and highlights the reported releases.

The possibilities are many, and with the popularity of Youtube would be very interesting for the Ubuntu have its exclusive channel that site.

would be an official channel, promoted and distributed by Canonical. And not promoted by a group of users.

Statistics and graphics of Ubuntu Brainstorm
Written by nq6 the 1 Jun 08 at 17:36. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
It would help the Ubuntu Brainstorm had statistics with graphics, where the categories would be analysed by the number of votes, number of ideas, ideas more popular, more ideas rejected, most popular users, users that contributed most. And much more.

It would be cool see it all represented graphically. Something similar to what Google Analytics does.

This idea could be put into practice, giving an additional functionality to Ubuntu Brainstorm.

Send the DVD by shipit.ubuntu
Written by nq6 the 26 May 08 at 01:08. Category: Marketing. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
The DVD player is already very common even in cheaper machines. The CD has a very limited space, and with a DVD would be many possibilities.

In a DVD of 9 GB can put extra packages, full support for all languages, with video tutorials, and more.

Users without Internet connection can install programs, packages and other resources.

The cost of transmission and production would be practically the same.

This idea should be put into practice even as a opicional.

LIVE DVD Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Endubuntu
Written by nq6 the 26 May 08 at 01:12. Category: Marketing. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
A single DVD with the installation of Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Endubuntu could be made available. The user would make the choice to start the Live-DVD.

The benefits would be many, because a single DVD, we would have 4 operating systems, a lower cost of production and distribution. They give the user the ability to choose or more of a test system.

The cost of transmission would not increase, and production would be practically the same as the difference in cost of a CD to DVD is very small.

The same offer comprehensive support to the languages as extra packages and the possibility of installing programs without dependence on Internet.

Mockup of Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex
Written by nq6 the 8 Jun 08 at 13:00. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I created the mockup of Ubuntu using some elements of other mockups. I think the change of Ubuntu may not be radical. Because it draws its visual identity.

He is easily identified, and its windows are differentiated from all distributions in the first look, as we see in the TV series, Criminal Minds
http://www.meiobit.com/files/penelope.jpg

#############################################
Can you see the mockup this link below.

Following are some suggestions from users, following the second amendment in the mockup.

Ubuntu Brainstorm for each country. The other non-English-speaking.
Written by nq6 the 2 Mar 08 at 01:41. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
That the Ubuntu Brainstorm was a fantastic idea nobody doubts, the more it is accessible only to people who speak English. I think every parent, or should have yours. China, Germany, France, Brazil, Italy, Arabic, Greek, and other non-English-speaking countries.

That would be great, because everyone could participate suggesting their ideas without the limitation of language. It would also be very good for Canonical know what users think of each country.

If the Ubuntu distro wants to be an international, and be dedicated to all with simplicity. It should eliminate this barrier.

I suggest that initially the countries below has its own Ubuntu Brainstorm.

Brazil
Russia
Japan
Greece
Italy
Spain
Germany
China
Korea
France
Netherlands
Arab Countries

Written by nq6 the 1 Jun 08 at 16:56. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
What is the position of your mind? She is the first? It is popular?

79 th best idea - My idea 1 st
279 th best idea - My 2 nd idea
7,279 th best idea - My idea 3 rd
8,928 th best idea - My idea 3 rd

It would be very interesting a general ranking of number of ideas. A second way of classification. This view could be included in My dashboard

Using Brainstorm to add ideas to the software in the Ubuntu.
Written by nq6 the 2 Jul 08 at 15:10. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
The Ubuntu Brainstorm is an excellent tool. He says that users want. It would be interesting Tuesday distinct categories of major programs such as Gnome, open Office, Gimp, pidgin, F-spot, Firefox, among others. Thus these software developers can use those ideas to improve their programs.

The Brainstorm Ubuntu is already a success, has a large concentration of ideas and creative users. We must seize these efforts and other programs and benefit not only the Ubuntu.
