Stop asking for wireless password when it is already known
Written by nazgand the 7 May 08 at 21:30. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
While doing important things that require no interruption, such as playing my heavily modified and challenging version of ketm, it can pop up, taking the keyboard focus off of the game - which is a quite annoying thing.

Complex number support int Ubuntu Calculator
Written by nazgand the 26 Apr 08 at 02:36. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
At this time, The Ubuntu Calculator cannot even take the logarithms of negative numbers.

The rule for logarithms of the form M∡𝜃 is this:
Ln(M∡𝜃)=Ln(M)+𝑖𝜃

The calculator should support complex numbers in cartesian and polar form.

Also, the calculator is currently unable to calculate the factorials of non integers. Please fix this with Euler's Gamma Function.

forward idea's to official developers
Written by nazgand the 9 May 08 at 01:53. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Many people on brainstorm sign up to request fixes for bugs they are frustrated about, when the object of their frustration is not developed by the ubuntu project.

I propose that when the admins sift through the mountains of ideas/bugs, all the ideas be sorted by developer, and the developer noted of a link to that section.

Example: Many people are frustrated with Gnome applets, like the Network Manager, but since they are using ubuntu, they post here. These should be forwarded to the gnome development team.

Connect to multiple WLAN Simultaniously.
Written by nazgand the 9 May 08 at 01:21. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
It would be useful to connect to multiple wireless networks when you want to use your laptop as a wireless network repeater. Example: the router you have only broadcasts in a 10 meter radius, you want to use your laptop 15 meters away outback, you could put another laptop connected to the first network and rebroadcasting internet access on a second ad-hoc network.
Alternatively, it could simply rebroadcast the same ESSID.

NOTE: This is not a duplicate of #526 or #2698, both of which have nothing to do with multiple wireless networks or rebroadcasting.

Make volunteer repository update team with official exploit checkers from ubuntu
Written by nazgand the 25 Apr 08 at 12:49. Category: Installation. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I've noticed many of the simplest Ideas at brainstorm are adding programs to or updating programs in the repository.
I propose that some knowledgeable volunteers could do the compiling and packaging, and whatever else is needed, and that some official Ubuntu package checkers could test it for compatibility and added-in exploits. Perhaps, if there are to few Ubuntu package checkers, the reputable package makers could become package checkers.

There would be a website, where you could suggest programs that need to be packaged/upgraded, and then a package maker will select the packages he will make, so that two package makers don't make the same package. If the package upgrade has not been posted to be checked within 24 hours, the package maker loses control of the program, and a different package maker could choose to make it.

If you are willing to be on such a volunteer make, even if you think you are not knowledgeable enough, please say so, but include also if you know how to compile and package programs.

I, myself, am willing, but I cannot even compile the latest version of crafty.

Ask for resolution change confirmation, or some sort of key shortcut
Written by nazgand the 26 Apr 08 at 20:12. Category: Graphics. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
When you change the resolution, it should say "Press this button if this resolution is working properly". Edit: if not pressed, in 15 secs, it will revert to previous resolution

Also, if a game changes your screen to an unsupported resolution, there should be some sort of key shortcut, perhaps Ctrl+Alt+R, you could press to restore the default resolution.

As an example, the game smc changes my resolution, and my laptop does not support it.

Running a command of an uninstalled package
Written by nazgand the 23 Apr 08 at 02:26. Category: Installation. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
When you try to run a command in the terminal that does not exist, but it recognizes it as an uninstalled package, instead of telling you to type in the install command, it should instead ask you if you want to install the package it suspects you want, and install it if you type 'Y'.

Use the National Security Agency's kernel
Written by nazgand the 8 May 08 at 22:09. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think that Ubuntu should use NSA's linux kernel by default, because it is far more secure than the normal kernel version.
