JFS by default
Written by Rotbart van Dainig the 1 Mar 08 at 12:35. Global category: Installation. Won't implement
JFS is a robust, modern filesystem that performs not only well over all kind of usage, but also with the least CPU time consumption.
By default, it already supports features that are still developed for ext4 (extents, online defrag) or still need to be manually activated for ext3 (B-tree-index, extended attributes).

Basically, it is a filesystem that 'Justs works', without the user having to worry about mount options and the like.

Microsoft Zune Software
Written by brokencrystal the 1 Mar 08 at 09:33. Global category: Multimedia. Implemented
There are two primary media players out there. The iPod and the Zune. The iPod works in Linux. The Zune does not. If the Zune software were able to run in Linux via WINE, then us thousands of Zune owners would be able to get rid of Windows for good.

My idea is a push for Zune software to run in WINE. (Like Google Picasa runs in WINE)

I know this is not directly Ubuntu related, but the Microsoft Zune is a major media player and this will keep Zune owners from moving over to Linux (Ubuntu) as we do not want to brick our $200+ piece of equipment because it's useless if we cannot add/remove media to/from it.

Selected solution (#2): Create libraries to work with the Zune
Written by namain the 15 Apr 09 at 21:28.
The iPod was, for a long time a closed device, but someone created projects like GTK Pod and similar libraries were created for the major media management programs

Such a solution could work just as well with the Zune.

Selected solution (#4): Isn' t this kinda already fixed??!
Written by eXPerience the 9 Apr 11 at 01:56.
Two things:
1. As a proud Microsoft Zune HD owner, when I plug in my Zune HD to my Ubuntu 10.10 computer, I get the standard message box stating that I have plugged in a device called 'Zune'. I can then open the file explorer and add content to my Zune HD device. true, I don' t get the cool features that the Zune software has to offer, but I can at least transfer files to and from my device.

2. Stop knocking Zune. ActionParsnip, your' e an iFreak. The Zune beats the heck out of the iPod touch and Windows Phone makes the iPhoney look like a toy. The Zune is 70 dollars cheaper and 70 times better.

In just works principle
Written by varnav the 1 Mar 08 at 10:22. Global category: Look and Feel. Not an idea
The main advantage of windows system and software over linux is that there is usually no need to configure anything. You install it - it works. Without reading pages and pages of docs and writing strings and strings in config file. Works out of the box. This is a very important feature for any user-friendly desktop oriented system, and this way it's a very important feature of Ubuntu itself.

Keep personality - newbies get linux with all the consecuencies
Written by crishnakh the 1 Mar 08 at 08:34. Global category: Look and Feel. Not an idea
That i want to say is that ubuntu now is coping a lot of things from windows and mac and we need to keep our personality... we don't need visual control for things and newbies must lear for example a simple sudo apt-get install program... it's easy and the visual program is slow... always is slower that run a terminal command....

Look KDE... it's like windows vista! and ubuntu is getting a lot of thing from mac os x and kde too...

Please keep your personality, anb linux persnality... we need run command in terminal... que need get things from other operating system but don't get ugly and silly things... gnome was very fast at first and that is why i get it and not KDE...

Just think about it... why we use linux and choose linux? Why we use ubuntu?
