It would be useful to create a graphical user interface for the new ufw (Uncomplicated Firewall) in Ubuntu. Would be useful to make every new release with an enabled firewall by default and with this graphical firewall utility also.

Gufw, a graphical frontend for ufw, is now on the Intrepid repository!

Not an idea
In Nautilus I can choose Single Click, but this only a feature of Nautilus.
In the GNOME dialogs Open file, Save file, etc, I must do two clicks!
(In Windows the Single Click is for all system).

Originally, i was really against the idea of a dark theme, and maybe i'd still prefer it if Ubuntu would lighten up a little. I understand the organic theme completely, but please...this is an operating system. Anyways, all the dark themes i had seen really turned me off and even the best ones seemed to be loved by some and hated by others. If we're going to have a dark theme, lets have one that we can all agree on. When i saw the Intrepid alpha screenshot, like many others, i gagged a little.
How people interact with their computer is really essential to their satisfaction. This is why aside from features, the software's stability (minimizing annoying bugs), speed (clean code and making everything as efficient and responsive as possible), and interface (look and feel) are the three most important things that should be our focus and be kept at a high priority.
We should really work to increase usability: http://mpt.net.nz/archive/2008/08/01/free-software-usability

This kind of menu bar is very practical. Why have a menu on every window when you're only using one at a time? It saves screen space especially on notebooks and Eeepcs! And it could be provide as an option for users, like an applet for gnome panel (so using it will be your choice)!
This is dynamic menu, it will be different for every window - example: If you are using firefox, the menu will be from firefox, next when you click on pidgin or gimp window, the menu will have the options from main pidgin or gimp window etc.. So besides more open windows, you are using one at a time only!
And if there is no open window, it will be the normal gnome menu (for launching applications).
I'd love to see this option become part of Gnome! Thank You

Hello.
I installed Ubuntu several times to old people or children, and frankly for they new concepts such as "Home", terminal... is more complicate!
My proposal is to make a desktop environment for PCs like the ASUS eee pc or ACER Aspire One.
Can be possible adapt the Ubuntu MID.
Make it simple, easy and limited. An older person wants to read their email and view some web sites in the 98% of use! Usually does not modify the settings or add/remove the applications.
We must thing in this point, Linux can get more users if a Desktop environment is SIMPLE!

I have a great idea for Ubuntu marketing: "Upgrade your life." Instead of specifically attacking Windows, as Apple does, Canonical should adopt an aggressive strategy that suggests Ubuntu is an upgrade from Windows and Mac. You need to point out the basics like Office-compatible apps, games, multimedia playback, stability, cost, etc... You do need to up the look and feel a bit to add some more eye candy before doing anything... I know a campaign like this takes money, but we all want Ubuntu to become a household name. The easiest way to approach this might be with strategic marketing through partners like Dell, but the campaign must be consistent throughout...
