Make Kubuntu and Ubuntu follow different release cycles

My opinion is, that it's not reasonable that Kubuntu follows the GNOME release cycle. With Kubuntu 8.10, the distro isn't likely to get the new versions of Amarok, Koffice, Digikam and many more. Why not let Ubuntu and Kubuntu have different schedules so that each distro could get the best?

Drivers like nVidia or ATI graphics Cards, whose are very hard to install without internet connections.
pppoatm drivers for USB Unicorn modems (alice adsl)
Some drivers for scanners and cameras (mine doesn't work)
And PocketPCs? Linux still doesn't support them...
If I have done some grammar mistakes please excuse me, but I'm not english

On Xubuntu, designed for computer systems with less resources, I suggest the Opera browser instead of Firefox s the default internet web browser. It is much lighter weight and faster.

Add a link to the sidebar showing Brainstorm ideas with the lowest scores, like the Most Popular but in reverse.
Let us all have a laugh, and learn from our mistakes.
(...this is a joke... but go on, vote for it...)

I'd be nice if ubuntu had an aplication or mode that alowed windows or mac programs to work in ubuntu- I do alot of projects with people who still use windows- it gets difficult to work with them when I can't edit, or even open an office document on ubuntu, this would bridge a gap for more people to use ubuntu

When it comes time for a install and you have to do partitioning, it needs to be a lot easier. GRUB also has to go. There is just way to many risk when using it. A Ubuntu developed solution that is bug free would be great.

Boot the livecd in noquiet mode

Boot the livecd in noquiet mode, so people see, what is happening, or, more importantly if there is still something happening or if the bootup is stuck.
An alternative to that, which is more elegant but more work to program would be, to boot quiet, but switch to a text screen with the messages, when the Esc key is pressed.
