I saw this blueprint from launchpad but it is not yet approved. I think this is a good venue for talking and helping ubuntu users live. Below is the project summary lifter from ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuLiveChatSupport)
The UbuntuLiveChatSupport aims to provide an interface to communicate to other ubuntu users with the same language & location, as well as to connect to the official ubuntu channel in freenode.net. It also aims to get live chat support from ubuntu users right into the desktop menu, via "System > Help > Live Chat Support".

Firefox extension to help fund Ubuntu using Amazon commissions

Miro has this excellent idea of a Firefox extension that you can opt to install, and every time you buy something from Amazon the referral commission goes to Miro, unless you go to Amazon from a site already using referral in which case the extension is smart enough to allow the original site it's rightful commission.
You can read more about it here
http://iheartmiro.org/
I dont know if you could get away with installing such an extension by default, but I think you could definitely have it as an opt in, thus allowing Ubuntu to get a whole bunch of Amazon commissions.

Provide a install dvd with gnome xfce and kde (and fluxbox, openbox) and with the most populair software that isnt installed by default (for example thunderbird). OpenSuSE has a install dvd where you can select the software you want to install. Why doesnt ubuntu make something like that, maybe with a synaptic looking software install interface?
Only a idea...?
