Update Firefox 3 beta 5 to RC1   forum
Written by MarcoSilva the 19 May 08 at 10:38. Category: Internet & Networking. Related to: Nothing/Others. Implemented
There is a logic for this in my opinion:

1 - Improve usability, stability and speed for Firefox users in Ubuntu. Beta 5 has some big issues.

2 - This also would help the Mozilla dev team because there would be thousand of users using RC1 instead of Beta5.

3 - The "Beta" can confuse some users.

So, what do you think?

option to reconfigure packages in synaptic
Written by Tuxoid the 17 May 08 at 21:41. Category: Installation. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
If something goes wrong with a particular package in Ubuntu, the best to fix it is usually re-configuring the package that's causing you grief. The issue with reconfiguring a package is that it has to be done via the command-line. Therefore, first you need to be willing enough to venture into the command-line, and, second, you need to know the commands needed to reconfigure package.

As of now, synaptic allows you to, install, re-install, remove, and completely remove (or purge) packages. That facilitates pretty-much every core capability of apt-get (and what I mean by 'core' is very basic operations). Right now, it does not all for the re-configuration of packages. I am suggesting that if you click on a package, in synaptic, that can be re-configured, it offers the option to re-configure the package from the context/right-click menu. Once selected, it opens a terminal window right inside the package's configuration wizard.

Add Additional Compiz Fusion Plugins to the Universe Repository
Written by sapwnage the 17 May 08 at 01:10. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. Won't implement
Many users want to have additional Compiz Fusion plugins that aren't in the "plugins-main" or "plugins-extra" packages. There are a growing number of plugins but many aren't available through those two packages. There are many howtos on ubuntuforums.org but many have issues and aren't that easy for beginners. It would be nice if you didn't have to compile from git just to get some cool plugins you saw on YouTube. There should be packages for individual plugins in the universe repository that can be easily install with APT. For example, the snow plugin could be in a package called "compiz-fusion-plugin-snow" or something similar.

Developer comments
These plugins are either buggy or unmaintained, that is why they aren't in plugins-main or plugins-extra. Not something we want included in Ubuntu.

bigger miniature beside mouse in file explorer (pictures)
Written by 1337sweden the 17 May 08 at 15:51. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
When you open a folder with pictures you will see some miniature pictures. My idea was that if you take the mouse-pointer on a miniature-picture, it will come up a Bigger miniature (like 5x bigger then the miniature in the folder at 100%).
Idea to this is to have some settings if you want to the zoom will be bigger or smaller or disable this function.

Look at this picture I did to make you see what I mean:
