Unlike Epiphnay, Firefox is not a real GNOME application, even with the enhanced native look which has been introduced by Firefox 3.0.
Epiphany is a very simple browser, more conforming to the spirit of GNOME, which lacks a lot of the features of Firefox. However, I think most people will probably not need Firefox' extra features and plugins. Those who do need Firefox could easily download it when Epiphany becomes the default webbrowser included out-of-the-box in Ubuntu. Ubuntu should aim for consistency, and Epiphany certainly is a better candidate than Firefox if consistency is the goal.
Epiphany currently uses the Gecko-engine for rendering, but will probably feature WebKit - http://live.gnome.org/Epiphany/WebKit - soon. WebKit would probably do a better job than Gecko.
Because somehow Ubuntu brainstorm says the Blueprint URL I gave isn't valid, I give it here in the text: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/epiphany-default-browser

Spins and Re-spins Fedora style

Build additional CD/DVD ISOs like Fedora does for their "spins". For example there could be a Games DVD ISO spin.
Also, occasionally release updated standard ISOs, for example Ubuntu Hardy ISO released in April, then after 2 months, in June release a standard ISO with the latest updates included, and so on...
This is to avoid the need for installing all patches since original release, can be very useful for people with slow or no Internet connections.
Developer comments
In the Ubuntu world the specialist re-spins are provided by derivatives like Ubuntu studio and we do provide updated ISOs for the LTS releases.

It seems the commercial repo falls in and out of favour - back in Dapper days it was launched with quite a bit of fanfare with quite a lot of third party/commercial apps. However these quickly became out of date with security fixes (ie Opera) and often broken by kernel updates (ie VMWare) and people resorted back to getting the packages from the third parties themselves.
From memory it took a few months for the repo to reappear in Edgy but it mainly remained empty. Lately a press release went out about offering Parallels Workstation from the repo, with the option to purchase the full product from the Canonical store. Upon trying this recently it seems this package is already broken by recent updates - I've seen a few threads on the forums about it and also a bug is still unconfirmed in Launchpad.
It seems if Ubuntu is wanting to gain more commercial clout it would be good to maintain/monitor this repo more frequently?

Organize a web-based Debian Recognition/Appreciation Day every year. Doesn't have to be anything formal, but the Debian maintainers are a key factor to the huge success Ubuntu is experiencing these days and they deserve the props.

At the moment the live CD allows you to manage the creation of partitions yourself before you install, or choose "everything in one partition". The alternate CD also has similar features, but also has the option of using LVM (Logical Volume Manager) to make post-install partition management easier, and MD (Multi-Disk) to do software RAID based installs.
These (LVM & MD) should be incorporated into the live installer (Ubiquity) and further there should be an easy option for having a separate root (/) and home (/home) partition on installation.
There are a few significant benefits to this, not least of which is the ability to easily reinstall the OS (or install a different derivative or even different distro) without losing the valuable data in /home.
Other benefits include resilience (from MD), easy partition resizing (from LVM), and better space management, making it so that a full /home partition does not affect the system as a whole (as / would not be full).

cdroms are slow, don't allow to modify their content easily, they are weak and not as easy to carry as USB keys.
It would be great to provide Ubuntu as a liveUSB just as Mandriva does. We should be able to carry our distribution on any computer, manage our preferred settings (do I want binary drivers enabled ? what is my preferred resolution ?), etc.
The thing is not to make something transportable, but really a nomad system that could be used just the best way as it could on any computer.
Developer comments
This was implemented by two separate projects! Both Usb-creator (see the blueprint) and Usblive (see its website) allow you to build a live USB system on Intrepid.
The first one is available on the repository, and usblive in this PPA.
