Make System Monitor as powerful as Windows Task Manager

Currently the System Monitor is sort of worthless as a Windows-style Task Manager. When the system is frozen because of a buggy application, System Manager won't take the screen back, even when a keyboard shortcut is used to try to bring it up.
And often the keyboard shortcut assigned to killing applications won't come up either.
Both of these need to be more able to take over control of the desktop and dominate buggy applications.
Windows Task Manager has this ability, and will almost always come up no matter how many things have crashed.
Also, add links to shut down, reboot, or restart the windowing manager.

Compız has Wobbly Wındows, and has an optıon whıch causes the wındow to shake when a beep ıs sent.
Mı ıdea ıs to create a plugın that uses Compız to create the nudge effect on Pıdgın.

When the user don't have to use the terminal the OS gets much more user-friendly! Well ofcourse you nearly don't HAVE to use the terminal but that is just not good enough for poeple which are new the OS. Think user-friendliness!
(If you go to youtube and go to any ubuntu video and read the comments you will fast fin our why people don't switch to Linux)!

Firefox: Doubleclick on tab to open new tab
|

The idea is to make FF more mouse-only/tablet friendly. ATM we have the middle click to close tab, but to open a new tab we have to:
a) dblclick on empty space in tab bar (not OK if you have many tabs open)
b) CTRL+T (totally not OK for mouse junkies / tablet PCs
c) right-click on tab -> New tab (not OK for anyone)
d) File -> New tab (totally not OK if you have Hide Menubar installed. Even without it - lots of unneeded clicking = not OK)
I suggest a simple double-click on the tab, to open up a new one next to it ;) It would be good for tablet PCs (no right click or keyboard shortcut crap), for ppl who don't like to search for CTRL-T shortcut and IMO would just improve productivity ;)
There are a couple of add-ons that create a "new tab" button on the tab bar ("new tab button on tab right" add-on lets you choose between far left/right of tab bar, and on right of the rightmost tab), but IMO the double-click would be just perfect!

64bit Ubuntu should be the new standard target. i386 for legacy support

Hi,
Being that all the 32 bit users are complaining about moving to i686 (from i386) and how it will break their old systems, why don't we just officially support the 64bit edition as the primary standard. All new processors are 64 bit now anyway, and you automatically get all the processor enhancements when switching to 64bit (guaranteed to support sse2, extended register sets, etc)
Problem is now that if you want to run 64bit, you lose compatibility with lots of stuff. Its not as well tested. It isn't the default installation being used. So you are either stuck with a low performance i386 distribution of an untested 64bit distribution.
Its tiring hearing about the i386 users who will be adversely affected if we move to i686. Well, lets just forget it all together and move straight to 64bit and leave them all with i386 as the backup. It should kill two birds with one stone (get us all on 64bit which is the future, and get us all on modern -march settings in gcc) and all the i386 lovers out there can still have their i386 compiled binaries.

Install Ubuntu without burning a cd

This is not my idea.
You can get a lot of tutorials explaining how to do it.
But they are very scary for a newbie.
It would be really nice if there were a GUI tool for linux and windows(of course! ;D) to which i could point the .iso file, and it would ask me to boot from the disk on next reboot.
Or better than that, it should have an option to copy all the settings from my current installation and automatically set it up in the new installation.
A new version of Ubuntu is released every 6 months.
Unlike windows Ubuntu is so stable that i never had to reinstall it.No doubt getting an new Ubuntu CD is damn easy. But Since i am in the habit of upgrading to every new version, i have dozens of CDs lying at the bottom of my drawer. What a waste!
I have made my own customized 'Hacked Heron' which fits only on a dvd. I am unable to install it on my friend's computer who does not have a dvd drive and another whose dvd drive is broken.

Enable Tab/Control+Tab keys for dragging items

When the user wants to drag an item from one windows to another is not possible to drag the item and press the Tab/Control+Tab keys in order to switch from one window to another.
Now, the only choice is to drag the item to the other windows taskbar, wait for this window to open, and them drop it in the new window, but this is quite slower.
This is useful for both moving items and opening them in a windows that is already open.

Brainstorm Offline Support

Firefox 3 now has better support for offline website applications.
We should utilise it for brainstorm, so that users with gripes and ideas may write new ideas whilst they are offline, and automatically submit them to the server when they reconnect to the internet.
This way we don't forget our ideas.

Sometimes the top of a window suddenly moves under the gnome panel, and I have to move the gnome panel and move the window away from where I have the gnome panel and move the panel back again. This is very annoying, please make the top of the windows to not go under the gnome panel. (The top of the windows= that part of the window you use to drag move the windows)
Hope you understand :p
