Use webcam and facial recognition to recognize user
Written by accord the 10 Jun 08 at 00:16. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
In GDM, users have to type or select (in face browser) their username in order to login. It would be desirable for the computer to take a snapshot of the human in front of the computer, recognize the face, and enter the correct username into GDM.

Whether not this also serves as a biometric authentication is another issue.

Spatial Sounds
Written by flammon the 4 Jun 08 at 00:26. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Play application and system sounds with the volume and timing relative to where the sound is coming from. Yes like in games.

Suppose I'm running Compiz with three virtual desktops side by side and the middle desktop is in focus. On the right virtual desktop, Pidgin is running and generates a sound. It would be nice if the sound would seem to come from the right side.

We could take this further by muffling sounds coming from minimized applications or have compiz generate a cool wave effect (similar to the rain) that would come from the generating window - not too much, subtle but enough to provide a clue to where the sounds are coming from.

Include more Fonts
Written by bogdan_5844 the 18 May 08 at 09:19. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Currently we have a few bunch of fonts in the default Ubuntu install, many of them wich are for languages with other characters, rarely used by speakers of languages wich use the Roman alphabet.

I suggest these fonts should be installed only if the system language is selected as Arabic or other language for wich a font now exists, and in place of those provide some Latin alphabet based fonts (the Red Hat Liberation fonts I hear that are good).

Also, some stylised fonts could be included for use in special applications (For example,an Egyptian-like font for use in presentations/invitations made with OpenOffice.org)

It a simple player based on "C". Please include it in linux. It performs much better than any other player, plus, the only highly compatible player with Compiz. It offers many configuration options as well.
