Files copied from a CDROM should not be read-only

You can get read-only files in several ways, but the most common way is to copy files to your computer from a CDROM. Is there any reason to keep read-only permissions when copying files from cdrom to hard disk?

More freedom of Desktop arrangement

The desktop context-menu option for "Clean Up by Name" should also include the options for sorting by "Size", "Type", "Date", and "Emblems", as is already possible under all normal Nautilus windows.
I would also like to recommend having the option to have the desktop icons arranged starting from the right side if preferred by the user. Default should of course continue to be sorting starting from the left side, but having a choice for those of us that are either are used to this method, or just find that it fits us better, would be of great benefit.

DISCLAIMER: Some components of this idea should be _options_ and not the defaults. I'm not a big fan of forcing anyone to do something a certain way, but I am a huge proponent for choice and flexibility.

Better dynamic icon placement

Sometimes, when a USB pen drive or hard drive is plugged in, it is auto mounted, but, sometimes, the icon placed on the desktop overlaps with the existing icons on the desktop. A manual refresh is required to rearrange the icons properly. Gnome should do it automatically.

Though the title speaks for itself, it would be nice to see a notification when you plug-in any hardware and make the system offer you many options to do with it, like installing drivers or tell you that there are no drivers for your device or something like that, it sucks when i connect a webcam and the system doesn't react to it.

Better Multilingual support and better CJK fonts
[Gutsy Feisty Edgy Dapper] language-support-"any CJK language" doesn't set up a way to input this language with scim if the session doesn't correspond to this particular CJK (Chinese, Japanese or Korean) language (#34282)

It's currently way too difficult to set up fonts and input editor for languages such as Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.
Take a look at this complicated HOWTO:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Japanese_Input_and_Fonts_in_Ubuntu_7%2e10
Setting up SCIM / SKIM should be easy regardless of what language you log in with. Many people need to use multiple languages.
In Windows, all you need to do is open the Regional Settings and check the languages you want and possibly insert the original disc.
In addition, the fonts installed for CJK by default are horrible. Ubuntu should include more readable fonts out of the box.
I feel this is a very important issue and is blocking Ubuntu from being a serious option for CJK users.

Azureus ( http://azureus.sourceforge.net) in ubuntu repositories is still in version 2.5.0.4 while there is already version 3.0.5.0 available for linux!
I think it would be nice to include the latest version in the repos, or both, if they still want to offer the older version, with the classic interface...
[edit] To anyone interested on how to make the prety link:
It is used with html code, I can't post it here because it would not be displayed (would be interpreted, as expected) you can see about it here.
