Sometimes a picture shows what we are talking about better than words so allow us to post pictures in our ideas, like you can on Ideastorm.

Please show the number of ideas in each category, in parenthesis. For example:
Ideas being worked upon (123)
Implemented ideas (57)
Accessibility (145)
Brainstorm (456)
etc.
It should also show how many ideas there are in total somewhere....
Thanks

It would be good to have user and idea statistics here like:
-user with most ideas, votes, comments
-ideas with most points, comments
-total number of ideas, comments, users
any others..?

Advertise Ubuntu on TV

At a guess most mainstream computer users still watch more TV than they use computers. It takes a bit of searching online to find out about Ubuntu, what it is and why it is a viable OS. Only people who are already interested in Ubuntu will take the time to do this. So reach out to those who don't know about Ubuntu through TV.

Brainstorming Rules - something to think about...

There are four basic rules in brainstorming. These are intended to reduce the social inhibitions that occur in groups and therefore stimulate the generation of new ideas. The expected result is a dynamic synergy that will dramatically increase the creativity of the group.
1. Focus on quantity: This rule is a means of enhancing divergent production, aiming to facilitate problem solving through the maxim, quantity breeds quality. The assumption is that the greater the number of ideas generated, the greater the chance of producing a radical and effective solution.
2. Constructive criticism is welcome: It is often emphasized that in group brainstorming peer review is important to build on ideas. That being said, criticism should never be personal, should focus on the idea and be directed at adding to the general objective of generating ideas.
3. Unusual ideas are welcome: To get a good and long list of ideas, unusual ideas are welcomed. They may open new ways of thinking and provide better solutions than regular ideas. They can be generated by looking from another perspective or setting aside assumptions.
4. Combine and improve ideas: Good ideas can be combined to form a single very good idea, as suggested by the slogan "1+1=3". This approach is assumed to lead to better and more complete ideas than merely generating new ideas alone. It is believed to stimulate the building of ideas by a process of association.

Brainstorm 'Profile' Make it make sense

Under the 'My Profile' section of Brainstorm there are a number of options to change including;
"Global setting
Available hardware architectures:
Whether you want to be
Global setting
Global hardware description:
A general description of the different computers you have access to
Global setting
Launchpad username:
Whether you want to be
Global setting
Change my Ubuntu QA email or password"
The only part of that I understand is 'Change my Ubuntu QA emal or password'. Why isn't it in some kind of more conventional language that means conventional things? Please make it make sense to average users like me...
Thanks

Dell Ideastorm is better than Brainstorm

I hate to say it but Dell's Ideastorm is better than Brainstorm. Ideastorm provides statistics, a far wider range of categories, more options to organize ideas and comments and is better at promoting cooperation and communication between users. Ideastorm also has html enabled so you can add pics and things....

Increase the number of idea categories

Please increase the number of idea categories on this site. I am not a programmer, but would like to discuss ideas related to Ubuntu's distribution plans, marketing, business models, about this site and other such things. At the moment there are no such categories.
It might be nice to list the categories in the left hand menus too, for easy access.

It would be nice to be able to see who is online on brainstorm. I don't know if it's possible or even important, but could be interesting.
Thanks

It would be nice to see who is voting for or against an idea here, so that we can ask why.
