make the possibility to install update when shutdown
Written by dega1999 the 4 Mar 08 at 20:56. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think it could be very useful to have the possibility to install the update everytime I switch off the machine.
It should be a button in the shutdown screen near the other button "log out" "power off" "change user" etc with the text "install update and shutdown".

Enhance resolution
Written by BadChoice the 4 Mar 08 at 19:29. Category: Graphics. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think that desktops needs to enchance resolution because everything its so big!! I have a panoramic screen and in windows I can see 1/3 more than in Ubuntu. Its very useful you can have two or tree aplications opened and see them all, or a big list of music etc...

Dynamically disable/enable CPU cores
Written by Eldmannen the 20 Mar 08 at 18:32. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I have a dual-core CPU. Some people have quad-core CPU. In some months Intel releases a new six-core CPU. Later there will be 8-core CPU and even more...

It would be nice Ubuntu could dynamically disable inactive CPU cores. Example, when the screensaver is running, it could use only 1 core instead of 2, 4, 6 or 8 cores.

This would use less power, make less heat, less noise. Be more economical and ecological.

Cultivate a list of OpenSource substitutes for Windows Software
Written by steco the 16 Mar 08 at 15:27. Category: Others. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Often I search for a software which bings me the funcitonality of a specific Windows (or Macintosh) program in my Ubuntu system.
Sometimes I found pearls in Ubuntus repositories I never heard before.

I'd wish to have a well cultivate list of software programs with pros and cons where I can look for if I need new software. Such a list would also be helpful for users who consider to dare to go to Ubuntu.

The list could have a section with success stories of migration to OpenSource Software.

Phone can be a general remote control
Written by Dreamscape9999 the 1 Mar 08 at 06:46. Category: Internet & Networking. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I hope my phone can remote control my TV,net media, air condition, lampe of my house, Phone can be a general remote control, I think it is very interesting, very practicality, and it's not difficult to become truth by now technology. furthermore, we can integrate the function of TV card to a net card, so the computer will have all function of TV, and can be remote controled by the same control module.

copy to / move to in nautilus
Written by derstresser the 26 Mar 08 at 22:08. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
In Konqueror there is the right-click option saying "Copy To" / "Move To" - would be great to have that implemented in Nautilus.

firefox 3 theme
Written by JhansonJr the 26 Mar 08 at 08:52. Category: Internet & Networking. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
firefox 3 theme for linux sucks compared to mac os x and vista's. Mac OS X's "Proto" Theme makes our theme look very amateur. Maybe someone could create an "Ubuntu" Theme that looks good, unlike the one now.

Download dependencies option on packages.ubuntu.com
Written by soulcheck the 26 Mar 08 at 12:18. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
It would be nice to have an option to download a desired package along with it dependencies on packages.ubuntu.com (I mean using browser, not a package manager)

Sure, aptitude, synaptic or whaterever else is a better way to manage mackages, but with no internet connection this way could be faster.

Obviously choosing all dependencies without any filtering would cause to download a big part of dependency tree, so this option could accept some kind of list of packages which user already has installed on his system as input.

Always open application in workspace where it was started
Written by Ansible the 22 Mar 08 at 22:29. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I mainly see this with Eclipse, but it also happens with OpenOffice. What happens is this: I'm in workspace A looking at my email. I decide to start Eclipse in workspace B. The Eclipse splash screen appears and I flip back to workspace A again, because eclipse takes a while to start. After a while the eclipse main window comes up on top of my email program, in workspace A. Then I have to drag it over to workspace B, where I wanted it to appear. I would prefer that it come up in the workspade where I started it.

OpenOffice has a similar result, but GIMP will actually pull you over to workspace B when it comes up. That's kind of cool, but behavior is inconsistent between GIMP and OpenOffice or Eclipse.
