Therefor I recommend to warn users about the dangers of DRM.

I have made a a couple of conceptual mockups. The basic idea is to make the user aware that the media he have is DRM-crippled, and to inform him about the DRM and how it restricts him.

This is just a conceptual mockup. It could be better and more informative. Perhaps less intrusive.

agree to install codecs if they dont let them install

Imagine a no-internet zone in office,no internet at home how a guy can install package with single package?.90% of windows users are not aware of dependencies in linux filesystem or newbie/novice too.i wanted to install gnomedo which is 127kb size and has dependency of 5k(not on system).
Make it experimental installer then evolve it as Full featured package management.

Moreover, as one of the most common misconceptions about Linux is that there is an excessive fragmentation, this would help giving a unified and strong view of Linux.

For instance, if I want to install an application that came with a .sh installation script, I have to start .sh file from a console. Why not implement a way to start it by double click of a mouse, like novice users would expect?
Or another example, when I want to for instance change ownership of a file by using a right-click menu in graphic interface (instead of console and chown) it gives me an error message that I don’t have sufficient privileges for that. So I have to use sudo Nautilus to start Nautilus in root mode to be able to change ownership over files. Wouldn’t it be so much easier and clearer if Ubuntu would simply ask for my root pass and make changes without having to run the whole Nautilus in sudo?

***I would like to thank those of you who bothered to provide reasonable feedback even if you down-voted. See, its not that hard!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, the first step at offering usability is to offer compatibility. Bring an end to this antiquated ideology that Linux is somehow "different", because its not. Shuttleworth challenges us that in two years Ubuntu will surpass Apple in usability. How exactly is that supposed to happen if every upcoming release brings nothing new to the table. Why aren't the developers willing to try something NEW, RADICAL, and SPONTANEOUS???

Tools like GTK are not good enough anymore. Why cling to the design fundamentals of projects not willing to change their interface approach. Linux in reality is either gnome or kde. No distro wants to evolve beyond that. I once suggested an idea to fork Gnome, but that was too radical for you. I suggested that Ubuntu publish human interface guidelines, but that wasn't good enough. One of the top ideas is to hold a contest at DeviantArt, and that was brushed to the side after 4 months. (Its in the 'work in progress' but still ignored, read the dev comments!) Seriously, the Gnome, Openoffice, and Ubuntu developers have the aesthetic sensibilities of a cinder blog.

Update: Not trying to troll, just a wake-up call. Based on the voting I see you guys aren't interested in making a good OS. What linux is today: Theme + Some Program's + Package System, all bundles into a downloadable.iso. WTF? Where is the innovation in that?? Every three months a new distro, for what purpose, all of them useless. You're right, linux is about choice, the choice to suck, be incompatible, be difficult to use, and just plain frustrating. But go ahead and keep submitting those ideas mates, because may be in 10-15 years, Ubuntu will have caught up to the rest of the world.

Why no integration between openoffice and firefox/thunderbird?
Why such poor enterprise support?
Why no unified short-cuts?
Why no simplified way to install/remove programs (not synaptic!)?
Why no common GUI design elements between applications?
Why should the end-user care about what a dependency is?
The end-user should NEVER have to open terminal and know what 'sudo' or 'apt-get' means.
Why is networking so difficult?
What purpose did pulse audio serve if its not functional?
Why not use compiz fusion to enhance the user experience?
What purpose does it serve to include application that don't "talk" to each other, or integrate?
Why do you use the default Gnome design?
Why do you keep using default gnome programs instead of creating a unique 'Ubuntu' experience?
Why are the fonts ugly as sin?
How come Ubuntu won't use simpler terminology to describe system actions?
Why doesn't the system use more visual/audio cues?

....Guess what? These aren't ideas, they are fundamental design flaws in the entire linux community because developers have no idea what the end-user needs.

Skip file(s) can also be great,also prompt when duplicate file is seen with same file name also show information like Size and date of creation/modification of both files,if possible.
