In addition, Intel HD Audio is architected to prevent the occasional glitches or pops that other audio solutions can have by providing dedicated system bandwidth for critical audio functions.
Intel® G965, P965, Q965, Q963, 946GZ, and 946PL Express Chipsets
Intel® 975X, 955X, 945G and 945P Express Chipsets
Intel® 925XE and 925X Express Chipsets
Intel® 915G, 915P, 915GV, 915GL, 915PL Express Chipsets,Intel® 910GL Express Chipset
Sadly vista has intuitive and better centralized sound management
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_features_new_to_Windows_Vista
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Audio_Architecture
Present alsa:
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1150/1403425888_4ba8852878.jpg?v=0
Using pulse audio if its going to be base default and improve its interface and completely remove unnecessary clutter, why cant i have two modes normal and advance, select in normal mode most common devices system volume, wave, mic,
linein advance should have mic boost etc
Related to idea:
#9611: Replace old sound GUI with new one with Pulse Audio features in mind

Bring Uniform hardware support and Central HCL(for at least top ten distro).
there is already Linux hcl project but i don't know how well all distro understand making and supporting central HCL(Hardware database).
opensuse has hcl, fedora too maintains, bring some peace in Linux hardware handling,if top 5 or ten Linux distro can merge hardware database people will be glad to use any Linux distro without discomfort.talk with other distro(like opensuse, fedora,Mandriva,Pclinuxos etc) to make it single hardware database and help each other at least in making hardware compatible in all Linux distro
Of course Server hardware is different from desktop and laptop.but concentrate on Desktop/laptop first and separate desktop database with laptop hcl like opensuse is doing.
http://www.linux-drivers.org/
http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/index.php
http://www.ubuntuhcl.org/ (unofficial?)
http://kmuto.jp/debian/hcl/ (Debian)
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/HCL
http://hcl.mandriva.com/
http://en.opensuse.org/Hardware
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO/
https://hardware.redhat.com/
Gentoo hcl(?)
slackware hcl(?)
pclinuxos hcl(?)
sabayon hcl
foresight(?)
Arch,Ark,frugalware,dreamlinux(?),etc
simplymepis(?)
Some distro's are popular but don't maintain hcl but have forums for helping/supporting.i also thing smaller sized distro and testing distro should be able to use this database as core HCL like DSL,Puppy, knoppix, nimble x,goblinx, slax, system rescue cd,Sam Linux etc.
Initiating this will make ubuntu not only popular but Linux developers will actively contribute in other projects and work on various projects other than there distro.

Merged:
Idea #6777: Add a program to support Ubuntu HCL Database

[78] Gaming Framework like Webkit will be answer to DirectX

Games are not native to Linux, because there isn't any framework that exists in Linux.Linux gamers are casual or hobbyist i feel because they code in there favorite language[c++ etc]/there distro[eg fedora, opensuse].There real need of Linux in particular is to gather all developers interested, concerned, active. This is not a issue with just ubuntu or gnome or kde.every platform kde, gnome, saw fish etc, from every language coderc, objective c,c++,python, perl,qt etc ,from every language/country/distro should contribute.
To make gaming happen there should be a framework for gaming in Linux because a popular framework has solved browser and web based application problems in Linux example
web kit.Web Kit is an open source application framework that provides a foundation upon which to build a web browser.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webkit

A framework is a basic conceptual structure used to solve or address complex issues. This very broad definition has allowed the term to be used as a buzzword, especially in a software context.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Framework
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_development
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_programming

Or SOFTWARE API like DirectX:
Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces (API's) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms.
from a decade directx x travelled from pc to xbox.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX
************************
OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is a standard specification defining a cross-language cross-platform API for writing applications that produce 2D and 3D computer graphics.
make use of opengl 3.0 the latest.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opengl
opengl is not framework for game development nor api for game development, its a library like javasomething, opengl does mainly supports multimedia based applications so the right choice is opengl, but Qt is also very promising make use of both.after making games port those games to gnome, kde etc. Hope gamers listen.
