Ask Authors To Approve Duplicate Ideas!

It seems that any new idea which is reported as a duplicate can be quickly removed and merged into another, even if the original author thought that his idea was similar, but had very important differences from the older idea.
I very recently reported a new and exciting idea for ubuntu which was becoming popular very fast (for its short lifetime). My idea has been removed from brainstorm searches because someone reported it as a duplicate of a lesser idea, and, although the other idea had a similar theme, my idea was far more specific and better documented.
I wish that members here still had the option of voting for my idea, since voting for other idea won't accomplish what I was proposing, but I seem to have no power over this process.
To get a feel for the problem, look here:
My Original idea:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/5848/
Other Idea:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/5362/
If the author doesn't respond in the time appointed, then the merge should go ahead, but otherwise, our free speech should be better protected on this site.

Longer support for LTS desktop releases

Why not to support LTS desktop releases of Ubuntu for a longer time. For example for 5 years that means as long as server editions are supported currently. This should not be a big problem, as most of updates are identical for both versions. Alternatively it can be full support for the first three years, and only crucial security updates for the last two.

Ubuntu theme song

I think it would be interesting. Music is a powerful tool to link people (if the song is good, obviously).
It could be used in some sort of welcome screen after first boot, with some welcome message, the examples, etc. Could also feature in Ubuntu credits screen. Maybe orchestral, like a movie or game soundrack (could be Leon Willet from Dreamfall OST :) ). Maybe it could be an open contest, but i think that wouldn't be very easy...

Ability to mark ideas as too generic or Obvious

Some ideas need to be generic, but some are so jokingly generic or obvious, it doesn't help developers at all. One example is the oldskool idea "Better hardware support".
Well, Everything in the hardware category is a dupe of that. It got over 1000 votes, yet it does not help developers at all, is obvious, and it cannot be fulfilled. "Better webcam support" is a tad more specific, at least people can mention exactly which webcams they are having issues with. Better would be to say "support UVB webcams out of the box".
Any comments in "Better hardware support" will be so broad, it wont help target specific hardware
There must be a way to stop this sillyness. Ideas marked as requiring more info or obvious should notify the author, and close the idea. Otherwise we end up with unattainable ideas, that get us nowhere, and dent future development.Mods should have the last say so the system wont be abused.
Otherwise next idea I post should be "Make ubuntu more user friendly". Yeah, that will get me to most popular ever. But it shouldn't!

Make WINE a part of the default install

So many people have Windows programs as the only thing keeping them from making a full transition from Windows to Linux. Perhaps it would be possible to make WINE a part of the Ubuntu install, so newbies could still use many of their Windows programs? Perhaps the first time they click on an EXE a window would pop up, saying that it'll run in WINE and may not work (as WINE is not quite perfect - yet anyways).

Make Compiz as cool as Metacity

Metacity has many, many features but it does not have cool bling.
Things like preventing windows popping up when you are doing something else like putting in you password.
It does not loose windows like Compiz woobly shake of death.
It has better edge detection.
It does not blank windows like Compiz does sometimes.
It does not loose the color of an active window like Compiz.
And there should be constancy with keybinding and behavior.
It would be useful if somebody documented all the tweeks that Metacity has so it could be copied.
