Power Management Option to set suspend/hibernate/display sleep before 11 minutes
Written by climatewarrior the 22 Mar 08 at 19:27. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I would like to set suspend in my laptop before 11 minutes. 11 minutes is a lot of time and battery power is crucial for users who are on the go. And besides it helps save energy and make the system more green.

Ubuntu and GNU/Linux ads competition
Written by climatewarrior the 20 Apr 08 at 21:16. Category: Marketing. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think that Linux is ready for the masses already and that one of the biggest things that are holding it back is that nobody knows about it. The other problem is that people aren't aware of foss(free and open source software). I think that firefox has been really successful in their promotion department. May be we should borrow from them and create something like this http://www.firefoxflicks.com/
and do a contest for the best fan created ad. I think that a lot of great quality ads for Ubuntu and Linux could come out of this.

Adopt a newbie Project   forum
Written by climatewarrior the 9 Apr 08 at 14:15. Category: Others. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I would be great if Ubuntu set up a team of volunteers that are willing to help newbies get started.(I know this already exists in the form of the forums/irc/mailing lists etc but this is different). It would be something like this. Noob goes to Ubuntu site because he has a problem or a question and sees the voluntary tech support page. He then applies for having his own tutor for getting started with Ubuntu. Then a tutor is assigned from the already available pool of volunteers. After the tutor is assigned the contact info is given to the noob. Then they could go and chat trough irc to get to know each other and to answer all of the noobs question. Also the volunteer could help out configuring the noobs system using vnc or something like that. I think it would make some people more comfortable and it would show the power of the free software community. This only meant to compliment the other already existing forms of voluntary tech support.

Make a tipjar available for each software entry in Add/Remove
Written by climatewarrior the 23 May 08 at 22:00. Category: Others. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
It would be cool if besides every entry on Add/Remove there were a "tipjar" button that would lead you to its corresponding project donations page. This would help raise funds for FOSS projects and its a good way for people to be able to say thanks to the projects developers if they like their software. It would also be cool if on the About Ubuntu/KDE/GNOME there were also tipjars available for each of this projects.

Integrate Creative Commons into the Ubuntu Desktop
Written by climatewarrior the 30 Jun 08 at 14:47. Category: Multimedia. Related to: Gnome. New
Ubuntu is Linux for human beings and it follows the principles of the Ubuntu philosophy. Creative Commons licenses also follow the principles of freedom and openness associated with Ubuntu. Maybe we should encourage the use of creative commons licenses in the Ubuntu desktop. I suggest we integrate creative commons licenses throughout the Ubuntu desktop so that more users become aware of them and so that it is easier for them to use the licenses.

Thanks!

Adopt the "Notebook Remix" theme for Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex
Written by climatewarrior the 5 Jun 08 at 20:30. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think that the "Notebook Remix" theme is great. It is sexy, bold and innovative, just like GNU/Linux ;). http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/03/canonical-makes-ubuntu-netbook-remix-officia l-at-computex/
I know that a lot of people don't like the "brown" in Ubuntu but this variation of the theme is way better. What do you think? I think its great because it sets Ubuntu apart from all others but at the same time its simple and elegant.

P.S By theme I mean just the color and art. Not the interface itself.
