Improve search in OOO
Written by catalania the 9 Jul 08 at 18:31. Related project: OpenOffice.org Word Processor. Not an idea
I dislike the way to search in OOO, I think, we need something more complex, minimal like word, with a menú with options.

There is a add-on (plugin), I know it, but, I think is necessary that the OOO included it from the begining.

Bye!

NOTE for magnet14: OOO is Open Office (by legal Actions is OOO no OO).

To Include the plugin "IE Tab" in Firefox 3
Written by catalania the 21 Aug 08 at 00:18. Related project: Firefox. Not an idea
Hi! I ask to include the plugin "IE Tab" in Firefox 3 in Ubuntu 8.10.

https://addons.mozilla.org/es-ES/firefox/addon/1419

Reason? IE is a bad web explorer, but our politicians do not know it. Why? because in my case, in Spain, the Public Administration ONLY work in Internet Explorer, when I want to watch my personal information in the University, I need IE, when I have to send information (form) by the website of the ministry of X (jod, culture, education, industry...), I need IE!!! oh my good!! WHY??? WTF!!! Firefox doesn't work well, o directly, doesn't work.

If we want that everybody (at less in Spain) install Ubuntu in their PC, and they can work well, we need this (a lot of people don't know that this plugin exist!!).

What do you love of Windows?
Written by catalania the 17 Aug 08 at 17:39. Global category: Others. New
It could be dangerous for my stats... but I need to mention that...

In real world 90% of PCs are using Windows, nowadays fewer people use it because of vista, but Windows XP is dangerous..

This idea propose to create a place where the people can tell us, "What things are using, and likes about windows". There, we can see the real things that the people wants, things that Ubuntu does, o doesn't do.

"The Windows eXPeriencie". People like things that are more easy to do, and more beautiful to see in Windows, these things We know, but not all things, simply things that we don't think.

Remember, don´t kill me, be "open", open your mind and remember it, UBUNTU is for human people, then, is neccessary that Ubuntu be easy and intuitive like Windows is for donkeys.

Easy like Windows XP (never Vista XD), beautiful like Apple, someday..it will be Ubuntu.

PD: Ubuntu have things better that Windows, but the people have to say what things they like them, because the people don't know what things have o no Ubuntu and GNU/Linux.

Improve Recycle bin & Delete files
Written by catalania the 11 Jul 08 at 14:39. Global category: System. New
Hi! I'm using Ubuntu 8.04, and I dislike the "recycle bin", and the way to delete files with delete/supr button.

Like said dr88dr88 in:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/60/

"We need the possibility to restore deleted files with a right mouse click in the trash bin in Gnome."

But too, a restore option in menu "file".

And one more thing, very important, a menu "tools" to configure the recycle bin. With:

* When select delete o push delete/supr button:
- Ask to send file/s & folder/s to the recycle bin.
- No ask nothing, and send directly file/s & folder/s to the recycle bin.

And the same with shift+delete/supr.

why? because is possible that persons like me, push accidentally delete/supr button, and you know, that in Ubuntu when you have got selected files or folders, if you push it, are deleted immediately without asking nothing.

New adds 13/7/8:

Included: Files with more of 15* days in recycle bin, will be deleted.
*You can change 5-10-15-20-30 days.

In Ubuntu, you don't know the time that the files can be in the recycle bin, ok, if you search in Internet YES, but we want to aproximate Ubuntu to every people, and is good, that the people have near the information.

Improve firefox cache access (to get files)
Written by catalania the 22 Jun 09 at 16:38. Related project: Firefox. New
Well, one thing than I hate of firefox, that is very difficult to get access to the cache, (in Internet Explorer is so easy -sorry-). I explain it:

I can introduce about:cache

Or to get:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2489

But is not enough, for example:
I want a videotutorial from this site:
http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/

In Internet Explorer I only have to search a big file FLW/SWF, in firefox, this file doesn't exists!! I search in cache directories, I use CacheViewer, and I use too Adblock Plus, but any is useless.

I can use these tricks for a normal webs as youtube, but is impossible in this kind of webs, I only find a small FLW/SWF file, then this force me to enter on Windows a use Internet Explorer.

I need a solution please.

Solution #1: Impruve this part on firefox
Written by catalania the 22 Jun 09 at 16:38.
Make a addon, or just change a part of the code of firefox for a better and more transparent management of the files accessed via the Internet.

Improve the way to install and change new theme, icons, etc.
Written by catalania the 9 Jul 08 at 19:07. Global category: Look and Feel. New
I think that we need a more simply way to change our Ubuntu look.

A better way to choose icons, and to associate them to extensions (rar, avi).

And to include a mini-tutorial in this part of Ubuntu (help/explanation button, for example in the same tab), how to change this, and this other.

To make more easy to change the splash screen, etc. A special section with all options to change Ubuntu look (for this will need a lot of Work, but I think that a lot of people like to change the appearance of their OS, and in Ubuntu could be better start to think in that).

Improve Keyboard Shortcuts
Written by catalania the 24 Jul 08 at 01:59. Global category: System. New
Could be a good idea, (for clumsy person like me), to introduce changes in Keyboard Shortcuts:

1º Like said MarcusRubeus in:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/8253/

It was good, to put a restore default button of Key combination. But a Button for all combinations, and a right click on the specific key combination to restore only the combination selected.

2º Like said fluteflute & strattonbrazil in:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/84/

http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/11133/

*The current key binding for "Ctrl+Alt+Supr/Del" brings up the shutdown/logout options, which is already accessible as a desktop button, which is redundant for a relatively less used function.*

We could change "Ctrl+Alt+Supr/Del" for the "Task Manager".

And we need to put "Task Manager" like a option in the "Keyboard Shortcuts". Somebody can want to put Ctrl+SUPER+Supr/Del (SUPER = Windows Key) for example.

More (thanks Tree MendUs, I take your 3º idea):
In Task manager window, with additional buttons for shutdown /logout functions.

3º Also, I think could be interesting, put a "expansion set" in "Keyboard Shortcuts", to create a "super direct link".

If you are a proffessional and you use often a program like Gimp, Inkscape, etc., you will like to have a special HOT KEYs to start immediately your aplications.

I want it in Ubuntu
Written by catalania the 2 Nov 08 at 20:04. Related project: ubuntu.com. New
I think that if you use Ubuntu, sure, that you want a special program than doesn't exist in it. Could be good create a special space where the users can ask their programs.

I don't speak about "alternative programs" NO, I speak about programs that YOU WANT in Ubuntu.

Example:
I want InfraRecorder (is the alternative of Nero), this is a open and free software, but, is only for Windows, there isn't any version for Linux. Why? I don't like the other burnes (for example).

Perhaps I can say, that I want the Windows Firefox (I don't like the differents options and order that have got Firefox in Ubuntu).

---
It is an initiative so that people carrying the programs, or create the same programs (same look, same options, and finally on linux).

Is ubuntu for you? (together can improve Ubuntu)
Written by catalania the 20 Dec 08 at 15:08. Related project: brainstorm.ubuntu.com. New
I check this diagram:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/29948/Ubuntuforyou.jpg

Then I started to think, what we really need. I think that is important to create a summary in brainstorm, not a top ten.

Until now, we only put and vote ideas, but we don't improve them.

They are ideas that need more than a vote, need to be improve by the users and give more importance to the comments (now: critical comments, in future 2 kinds= critical comments and improve comments). Why? comments normally to back or attack your idea, but is strange that people try to improve your idea (they aren't a special place to add ideas to improve your principal idea).

Example:
Ubuntu need to me more beautiful, at less like Mac OS X.

And the users:
Yep! we need cristal buttons, configuration more easy in this and this point, change the way to change the wallpaper, etc.

To include the "apply" button option in menues
Written by catalania the 9 Jul 08 at 18:55. Global category: System. New
To include the "apply" button option in menues

English
When I started to use Ubutu, I was surprised and disappointed to watch that all option that I select, they applied at the moment, without my permission, without preview. In themes, icons, etc.

I think is necessary to put this button, like in Windows, when you are selecting things, you have the option to “apply”, because, if I make a mistake, I can’t CANCEL in Ubuntu, because the options apply at the same time that I click on they.
