There should be an Ubuntu mascot or official name for its logo or somethin' that separates it from other distros (e.g. tux for linux, beastie for bsd, three toe footmark, G for Gentoo). Well, how's about "trimoon" for starters?

I would like to see an edition of Ubuntu that was specifically designed with a non-technical user in mind by:
- Providing a web-centric interface similar to gOS;
- Providing a tabbed desktop that groups similar applications like the eee PC. Photo on this link: http://eeepc.asus.com/global/product.htm
- Providing a mechanism to switch between a simple to use interface and a more technical interface similar to the Linpus Lite OS ( Although I never got it going I like the concept )
Many people just want to use their PC to communicate( e-mail, chat, skype), socialize( facebook ), write documents, upload and manage their documents, photos and videos, search the web, play games, watch movies, listen to music, e-shopping, e-banking, etc... They don't need a lot more than that.
Many people just want their computer to liberate them immediately without having to call the "Geek" squad, or their relatives in order for them to do what should be naturally intuitive.
Therefore I would really like to see the ubuntu team develop a new web-centric, tabbed, swappable interface that is EZ to use,intuitive,and intelligent.

Can someone hack together an Ubuntu spin that loads just enough to get Xen working, with remote admin tools like virt-manager so that I can install a box in the corner, build VMs remotely, and allow most of the resources on the machine to be available for the Xen clients? Wait. Thats VMware... *doh*
Sorry, not trying to be facetious, really. I just dont like EMC tracking what I download and run. The spam is horrid.

Unless the user wants a particular package right away, downloads and installation for these services are done when computer is not in use and paused when user is active. Add to panel a prefernce button that resumes when clicked and add script to auto-detect low-usage times and continue downloading installing.

I think it would help newbies configure their computer on a fresh install or other configurations if the system offered to help them with a graphical wizard instead of an imposing list of options.

Kubuntu and Ubuntu are not exactly equal desktops. Some suggestions don't apply to Kubuntu and/or only apply to Kubuntu. I think Kubuntu should also have a brainstorm site like this.
It should be merged with this website. Each suggestion should not only get a category but also a "Distro", where one of the options is all.
Basically Ubuntu will display only Ubuntu applicable stories (or it can have all. Since Ubuntu and Kubuntu aren't mutually exclusive rather Kubuntu falls under Ubuntu.) and Kubuntu will have only stories that are for all distros or only for Kubuntu.
