The brainstorm site needs to have a new item in the user menu: Ideas I've commented on. For many comments, people are looking for responses, or are curious to know what other people are saying. You could also provide the ability to "watch" topics, and be notified when they are updated and/or comments are made.

When you click on the link "Most popular this month" it only has about 2 or 3 ideas on the first page that are not already on the front page of "Most popular this week". What this basically means is that this link is broken. There are two options to fix this problem:

1) Only show ideas greater than 1 week old
-or-
2) Give priority to the week 2, 3, and 4 ideas (ie: give week 1 ideas a 7-14 day sorting penalty).

Once this sorting issue is fixed, brainstorm will work much better. I filed a bug report on it, but it got no response and I think it is slipping through the cracks.

What do you think? Are there any other ways you can see to solve this problem?
But once firefox is closed, those settings disappear!!! meaning: once I re-open firefox, flash has sound again!!!

I hate when those bastards just scare the hell out of me when I'm listening to music or something.... so I would like to have flash ALWAYS muted, something PulseAudio does not allow!
Why can't PulseAudio just remember these settings for each program?!?! Seems easy to implement...
It would be sooo nice...

PS: This is only possible in PulseAudio with the GUI installed: padevchooser

https://www.torproject.org/

I would like to propose the idea of having a Tor-relay as an option in Ubuntu, with the default setting of "non-exit" operation if the user have a internet connection of 20 kilobytes/s or more.

About "non-exit" node: It basically means that the service the user is running, passes along the traffic to another tor node.
It doesnt use the users internet connection to access the "web/email/etc".
Read more here:
https://wiki.torproject.org/noreply/TheOnionRouter/TorFAQ#RunARelayBut

Ofcourse there are security concerns but there are "remedies":
https://wiki.torproject.org/noreply/TheOnionRouter/OperationalSecurity
https://wiki.torproject.org/noreply/TheOnionRouter/TorInChroot

Everyone who are concerned over ABUSE or LEGAL matters, can read these:
Abuse: http://www.torproject.org/faq-abuse.html.en
Legal: http://www.torproject.org/eff/tor-legal-faq.html.en

The Tor blog is quite interesting:
https://blog.torproject.org/
And ofcourse their wiki is quite informative:
https://wiki.torproject.org/noreply/TheOnionRouter

(It should be noted that this is one of those ideas you get when you cant sleep and think, that would be amazing for freedom of the net/speech, please disregard this or get inspiration however you feel about it. I search a bit, but didnt find any ideas about tor so.. and btw sorry for my bad english)

[456] Treat archives like regular folders

Archives are opening in applications like File Roller. Why? When you thing about you realize that archive is nothing less than special type of folder (and folder is special type of file with defined structure dependent on filesystem). But archives can be presented as compressed folders and opens in same windows as regular folders. Why do we need to confuse user with different windows?

Working with archives will be easy as in Midnight Commander or in Total Commander or in Windows XP. And if it will be implemented like VFS (zip://path/archive.zip/subdirectory/file) or as kernel driver it will be easier due to be transparent to any application.

Update: If gvfs is not possible, mounting the archive could be another possible way to implement this.

Archive managers should be used only for creating archives with non common attributes, e.g. encrypted, splitted to multiple volumes (to fit DVD, CD, ZIP drive, Floppy)...

Note: When you try to drag big file out from the archive from File Roller you need to wait to fully uncompress file before releasing mouse button (once it started to uncompress it). It's bad and very annoying.

(Idea copied from: http://chabada.sk/better-desktop/)

Brasero is nice and getting better, but I have few improvements to suggest:
- Video DVD, there is no option for it and would be nice if it was implemented
- Integrity check. When you select this option, Brasero will include a checksum file in the media burnt. Perhaps the file should be stored in a .brasero folder in the home directory?
- There is no integrity check for burnt image files
- When burning an audio cd from mp3s the process takes forever, anything that can be done there?
