[385] Applications that stop 'responding' should get less CPU

This can be implemented by doing a renice on any CPU-hogging processes that don't catch SIGXCPU.
This would be easy to implement, would improve responsiveness, and wouldn't break anything.
Similar functionality has been available on W*****s for some time with the ForumWare program "ProcessTamer".
This suggestion is an intentional duplicate, but with a less technical title.

Set the default program for opening a flash file to 'sensible-browser'.

On most people's systems this would let one double-click on a flash file, and it would open in Firefox - which presumably is set up with the right codecs.

"Having to change programs to perform simple tasks—for example, making a quick calculation, or looking up a definition—breaks your concentration, takes you away from the task at hand, and wastes your valuable time. Enso lets you do common computing tasks easier and faster than ever before. You get a huge productivity boost and a simpler digital life."
http://www.humanized.com/
On my accounts at school, and on my music server I rely on Enso to help me do things quickly. Also, a mouseless machine is much easier to use with Enso's help.

[-9] Pause user-selected CPU-intensive background tasks, when hot

I've been able to use Python to pause MPrime when the system is hot (as determined by calculating the standard deviation of the current temp against past temps.) If there is another project that has done this elegantly, I'd love to see it added in 8.04 final. Alternatively, if someone would like to collaborate with me on making an elegant and presentable solution, I'd appreciate the help. I'm more script-kiddie than anything else, and my strong points do not include GUIs.
