offer to format unformatted drives
Written by azimout the 2 Oct 08 at 09:18. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
when you plug in an unformatted drive, nothing happens. it would be helpful (for new users) to:
a) acknowledge the event, so they know the drive is not broken or anything, and
b) offer to format the drive

Browsing a document in OpenOffice is not changing it
Written by azimout the 22 May 08 at 15:00. Category: Office. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I open a document with OpenOffice (e.g. a .ppt presentation), I browse through it and decide it's not the one I was looking for. When I close it, OpenOffice will ask me if I want to save or dismiss the changes. If you open 5-6 documents like this, it can be quite annoying...

OpenOffice should ignore the fact that I'm closing the document at a different page than the one it opened to...

Please push this idea upstream to the OOo developers...

add to gvfs-trash the same command line options as rm
Written by azimout the 12 May 08 at 09:08. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
If gvfs-trash had the same command line options as rm, I could alias rm with gvfs-trash, so that rm sends files and directories to the trash can instead.

Separe the select and pan functions in Evince
Written by azimout the 16 Jul 08 at 11:54. Category: Office. Related to: Evince Document Viewer. New
It was not obvious, but I found that you can pan in Evince by holding down the middle click button. This is the famous "hand tool". I find this functionality very useful, but kinda awkward... In Adobe Reader you click the cooresponding button in the toolbar, which changes the left-click behaviour.

This would make panning much more intuitive (off the top of my head, I cannot think of another app where you hold down the middle click button, I might be wrong), plus you cannot use the feature currently with a touchpad...
