Some media are exploiting the OpenSSL issue to show that open source software is not (and will never be) as safe as private software. In order to preserve the image of reliability of Ubuntu, it would be necessary to carry out the actions needed to fix this issue and publicly ensure that Ubuntu (and the software officialy maintained repositoy) is free now of this issue.

Hans Reiser is currently imprisoned, facing a murder trial. He was accused of the murder of his wife Nina Reiser, after she disappeared while cheating on him with Sean Sturgeon, a self-admitted serial killer.

Hire the "dream team" legal team, consisting of Alan Dershowitz, F. Lee Bailey, Robert Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran who defended O.J. Simpson in the murder case against his wife. O.J Simpson never spent a single day in prison.

This will allow Hans Reiser to continue the developement of the 'reiser4' file system. A revolutionary file system which is 10 to 15 times faster than its most serious competitor, the ext3 file system currently used in Ubuntu.

Do we actually need both "Add / Remove Programs" and "Synaptic Package Manager"? --Surely not. And, it's confusing, even to me.

If we only have one, which should we keep? --Synaptic, clearly, since it's more featureful.

Can we make Synaptic more user-friendly to novices? --Yes, easily. Give it "novice" and "expert" modes; maybe tart up the graphics a bit.

OpenOffice Impress does not allow one to click a movie object to start playing that movie. It automatically starts the moment the slide comes into focus.

As a scientist I need to give presentations that contain several movies. I am still reverting to using Windows XP in virtualbox to show Powerpoint presentations, because of this lacking feature.

My idea would be to implement simple control over playing media clips (video/audio) in presentation mode.

1)small tree browser in the left pane( like the one in windows explorer, its convenient for quickly browsing the hierarchy'). The tree like structure in the "detailed" view on the right pane is very close to what i am talking abt. but, it needs to be on the left side with smaller icons so that it can fit into a smaller left pane.

2) Tabbed browsing instead of opening multiple windows

3) responsiveness, nautilus needs to render much faster that it currently does. Since the file explorer is one of the most frequently used app, ppl get easy frustrated when it doesn't work as expected.

4) There should be an option to apply a view setting (icons, details, etc) system wide( for all folders in the system) , that is, not remembering view setting for each folder and using a global view setting.

5) Dragging an entity should make it transparent. If not done, this tends to cover up the entity on which you are dropping it on. If transparency is not achievable due to some limitation in X server, show only the outline while dragging.

6) The shorcuts in the left pane, when right clicked should have context menu similar to that of a normal folder.

It is nice idea to create a separate site for speading ubuntu like "spreadfirefox" site. Speadfirefox make greatest job to make firefox so popular. Spread ubuntu will be a cammunity marketing site focussing to spread the word "ubuntu" among all most every corners of the world. It is nice to give prizes like ubuntu hats, stickers and tea shirts among top achievers.

Making groups like LUGS among students and youths in every city and called them ubuntu volunteers or like. The volunteers
spread ubuntu among schools collages and other arias especially among young next generation and understanding them why ubuntu is better than proprietary Operating systems.

The "volunteers of ubuntu" also distribute free ubuntu cds among schools, collages and other people who actually needed it after every new release. They also offer free support or help to install ubuntu among average computer users.

Ubuntu will be the most popular booth around.

And I know it sounds stupid, however, its a very good way to attract attention. For people who have never heard of ubuntu, it would encourage them to come to the booth and hang around with other diehard ubuntu users (and get the word out there).
I suggest that the categories for ideas be listed on the left hand side of the screen for easy access. I have not yet found an easy way to sort ideas by their category, which seems a strange oversight in design.
It's still in beta stage, but with some help from the Ubuntu project, it could become very usable.

Here are some links on it:
http://www.symphonyos.com/
http://www.symphonyos.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_OS

I propose that Symphony OS become an official Ubunutu distro alongside Xubuntu, Kubuntu, and Edubuntu, and all it's packages become installable from Ubuntu repos, so that users of the other desktops can simply do a "apt-get install mezzo-desktop" to easily install it.
