Show who voted down and voted up an idea and their reason why and more
Written by pyrates the 12 Oct 08 at 04:57. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think we should make it so that when an idea is voted down or voted up, they have to include why they chose to do that. This is not the same as comments. For them, we include voting up and down with having to put a reason each time.

And then at the end of it, we should be able to see how many votes each idea got so that we don't just see an idea is +10 votes or -10 votes, but we see for example 100 people voted it up and another 110 voted it down.

This would show an idea is more popular then it might appear to be or less popular then it appears to be. This would prevent those who don't like Ubuntu being less linux like in their eyes and get the ideas implemented that Ubuntu needs to for an end user to consider using it.

Create a Last.FM for apps
Written by ilembitov the 11 Oct 08 at 20:09. Category: Usability. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
The idea here is that Ubuntu should gather statistics about what software does the user run and recommend him new apps, based on the recommendations of the other users. Just like Last.FM, but for apps. Just like Wakoopa.

recognize Ubuntu eee as official derivative
Written by Xfactor the 11 Oct 08 at 17:35. Category: Marketing. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Recognize "ubuntu eee" as a derivative. 'Ubuntu eee' for the eeepc of Asus is really a linux for humans.

Easy, fast and reliable. Even my mom can compute with this os. I love it.

They have automaticaly set the wlan driver for the eeepc and the default Ubuntu doesn't. So they really have something to offer.

The Ubuntu eee project really can contribute to your efforts of making Ubuntu popular, because many people want to buy or have a eeepc.

It is so much better than that Xandros os that was installed on my eeepc 900.

Create a website to donate money for one more paid developer for Kubuntu
Written by usr the 10 Oct 08 at 16:44. Category: System. Related to: Kubuntu. New
Kubuntu, a second class distro, no more! (See http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/478/ and https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150333 for more information).

I propose to create a website to donate money for one more paid developer for Kubuntu (because Canonical has 2 paid GNOME developers, but only has 1 paid KDE developer):
1.) It stipulates the amount of money required to pay a developer for a year.
2.) Anyone who wants to donate, donate what he considers. But only will be forced to donate if it reaches the amount indicated in item number one (the the amount of money achieved will be showing daily on the website).
3.) Perform this idea once a year.

My idea is similar to this and it worked: http://www.pledgebank.com/nouveaudriver

Remind Brainstormers how long it's been since they've submitted an idea
Written by Aphoxema the 9 Oct 08 at 14:06. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: ubuntu.com. New
Users certainly aren't required to submit ideas, but the ideas do need to keep coming in and be discussed and voted on.

It may be beneficial for users to be reminded how long it's been since they've commented, voted, or submitted ideas on the dashboard.

system tools showing us how far 'sync' is needed
Written by nitrofurano the 9 Oct 08 at 11:27. Category: System. Related to: Gnome. New
Most of people know the 'sync' issue is because performance.

The people used to not knowing 'sync' command (specially newbies) used to loose important files regularly. It's a fact, sadly.

Would be interesting some system tool, like a Gnome applet or something like, showing us how far clicking on the 'gksudo sync' custom Gnome Panel launcher is needed.

Better support in Dual Boot - windows XP AND Ubuntu
Written by Tal Ashkenazi the 7 Oct 08 at 13:25. Category: Installation. Related to: Nothing/Others. Won't implement
i cant install windows after installing ubuntu,
if i try to re-install ubuntu windows also not working

Developer comments
Not much can be done here - windows will overwrite GRUB, and windows refuses to know that other non-windows operating systems exist.

However, I believe that https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot covers this issue.

Ubuntu boot sound composers needs inspiration
Written by nitrofurano the 6 Oct 08 at 23:45. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Live CD. New
After getting shocked with the bad taste of the Interpid Beta boot sound, i can't stop on submitting some inspiring suggestions, and invite all people to do the same. The idea is bringing back the african spirit into Ubuntu again. (It's about inspiring, getting the feeling, not copying, please...)

make? more simple
Written by mackos-gnu the 6 Oct 08 at 18:12. Category: Installation. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Create a simple tool with GUI .This can compilate the source code, and, when you compile, the tool cut and paste the code in /home/user/.make .
