I tried several versions of linux software and they all screamed that it did the same as windows.
I stopped using them for one very important reason: they all worked in there conservative non-tolerant linux way.
The day it works like windows I will use it.
-I want to install programs like windows
-I want tot use the filemanager like windows
-I want program names with normal names and not cryptic linuxnames only meant for linux insiders.
-I want the windows-like interface and all the things I usually do with windows.

Every windows user wants to work like he or she did with windows.
If Ubuntu does this, all these people will go and work with Ubuntu
Until then : nada
I just don't understand why nobody in the Linux world does see this what every windows user knows.
To me it feels that nobody in linux world wants to see this fact.
Very very strange.
Make it like windows and everyone will adopt Ubuntu

I started my computer life on single user systems where I was essentially always root. AppleDOS, DOS, Windows 3.x, OS/2 all allowed me to control my system without sudo or su.

I understand the risks, I understand why some users should not be root. I understand I cannot use ubuntu without this feature.

Allow the usage of the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + v to paste items into the Terminal. I know many of us copy commands from websites (mostly ubuntu forums for me) and paste them into the Terminal, and keyboard shortcuts are a preferred way to do it.

Entire screen gets disabled whenever some application requires root password. This prevents from doing any other operation. It totally disables the desktop. You cannot do any other activity/task. It should allow to do other task while waiting for the root password. With Alt->Tab it should allow to use other open application or so. The screen should only "blacken" when Alt->Tab takes it back to the application asking for root password.

I would like to have the choice at install time whether I want to use GRUB or LILO and especially where I want to install the loader. Currently, GRUB is default AND the loader will be put at the MBR by default. Therefor, I need the alternate CD but this is NOT for noobs. Please give a user the choise. I know that Knoppix and Kanotix works this way.

I would like to have a multilingual space online to host our pictures, so we can use a free hosting without advertisment or annoying stuffs. It could be based on F-Spot (or another pictures manager) to send, share, manage easily our pictures.
