Hello,
Create and add an 'Ambulant' package in Ubuntu. Ambulant is a SMIL player.
The SMIL standard is defined by the W3C. It's a XLM format allowing to make presentations, slideshows, to mix image, video, audio, text, it is encapsulable in the html or xhtml (for example, it's used for the MMS).

I would love to open more than one instance of totem to reproduce different videos at the same time, this is present in VLC and MPLAYER why can't totem have multiple instance if it is the main multimedia player in Ubuntu.

Many new users are confused by device names such as /dev/sda1, /dev/sdb5, /dev/hda2, /dev/hdc4, etc.
So I propose to show volume labels (partition names) in the installer, to make it easier for users who install Ubuntu to know which partition they are installing on.
This will make it clearer and easier to install Ubuntu without any mistakes being done which might result in that a new user accidentally looses valuable data.

For the side pane in Nautilus, you can choose between places (bookmarks) or Tree view (directory hierarchy).
Id like to be able to use Tree view, but also have some bookmarks shown.
Tree mode shows 'Home Folder', and then 'File System' as collapsible nodes. Perhaps a new 'Places' node could be added, which can then be expanded to show all the places youd normally see in Places mode.

In icon view, things sometimes get a little bit cluttered and confusing in nautilus. I thought it would be helpful to (optionally) visually separate files and folders to make navigation easier.

Now this is probably subject to free formats etc, but the Print Screen screenshot application presently only allows saving in PNG format. This is great and all, but it would also be great to be able to save in other formats without needing to load up the GIMP every time.
Also, a checkbox option to create a thumbnail image file along with the screenshot (say, 160 x 128 or user-configurable) would be hugely beneficial and could be saved with a simple "_thumb" extension to the filename, eg:
Screenshot.png
Screenshot_thumb.png
Would save many minutes of work for those who do lots of illustrated documentation sites!
On the Brainstorm site a lot of text is set to the default system colour, but the backgrounds are coded to be light colours like white. For people who have light text by default (eg. white-on-black themes) this can make the site unreadable without selecting all of the text.

Better way to set monitor resolution and refresh rate. Majority of the new monitors are LCD type. User should be able to specify the native resolution and refresh rate during install.
Then Ubuntu/X must do WHATEVER it takes to stick to that resolution and refresh rate.
In case of multi-monitor setups, must be able to specify the configuration at time of installation.
Also, the login GUI must use same resolution as X. Why different resolutions?
Rant:
I have nVidia NVS440 card with Viewsonic VP2290b monitor. Video card must be set to 1920x1200 @13Hz or @41Hz refresh rate for each of it's four outputs. Desktop must be arranged in 2x2 matrix. Then monitor displays 3840x2400 @13Hz or @41Hz.
This worked very well in Ubuntu 6.06. Installed Ubuntu 7.04 and ended up with something like 800x480, even with nVidia binary drivers. Tweaked xorg.conf for weeks to get this to work. BulletProofX kept messing with my hand crafted xorg.conf file; which did work with 6.06. Eventually gave up and started using Windaz again :-( Will try again when frustration level has come down.

I just suggest to make an option to automatically restore VPN connections after reboot. It is quite annoying after each reboot restore the connections manually.
