Ubuntu's bootloader is a stark black and white screen, filled with confusing options. It gives newbies a moment of indecision, as they try to figure out if they are supposed to choose something, and wonder why there are three or four Ubuntus listed. Then the timer finishes counting down (starting from 10), and the newb begins to feel like he's getting in over his head as his PC boots into Ubuntu.
Too much information up front, stark text-only display, painfully long countdown timer. What would be the alternative? Well, when a Fedora PC is booted up, the first thing the user sees is a graphical splash screen, and "Booting into Fedora (kernel version) in 4 seconds ... " The user can press a key to interrupt and select from kernel versions or alternative operating systems, or just let it boot into Fedora.
Can't we create our own attractive bootloader? Or, failing that, copy-and-paste Fedora's?

When you are activating a compiz effect, you actually don't know what will you get. So these effects (and perhaps tips for using them) can be previewed in a short flash movie so you will know what you are doing. Google Sketch Up already has something like this.

Ubuntu different .iso for each country

I'm french and for most country it could be great if we can download different .iso files with all the specific packages for translation included.
Because if we don't have an internet connection, the system will not be completely translated.
It's a bad thing for most people.
So, please, create
ubuntu_x.xx_fr.iso
ubuntu_x.xx_en.iso
ubuntu_x.xx_sp.iso .../...
Ubuntu for human beings in each country ;)
(Sorry for my bad english)

SeaMonkey ( http://www.seamonkey-project.org/) is the successor of Netscape Communicator and Mozilla. Its "All-in-one Internet suite" integration is unmatched, making it a very efficient tool for both home and corporate uses (better than the Firefox/Thunderbird combo). SeaMonkey is also always up to date regarding security fixes (being updated at the same time as Mozilla Firefox)!
SeaMonkey really deserves a place in at least the Universe repository but the goal is to have SeaMonkey listed in "Add/Remove Applications".

New Kubuntu theme that remind the Ubuntu philosophy

The first release of Ubuntu (dear warty) was breaking the habits with its Human theme. And it was made on purpose and it's still on, and it helps us to remind that Ubuntu is different. That there is a philosophy behind it.
Kubuntu is blue
Deeply blue. Depressively blue. "#000 000 255"ly blue.
KDE4 breaks it, but it's due to KDE developpers.
Why not making a new theme for KDE4 that reflects the Ubuntu philosophy ?
Somethink more Human, humble, sober and professionnal.
Somethink that just fits with the philosophy of our community

Canonical Store should allow bank transfer payment method

Canonical Store ( http://shop.canonical.com/) accepts payments by credit cards and Paypal (which requires a credit card anyway) only.
It prevents people who don't have a credit card from purchasing Ubuntu goods...
Pre-payment by bank transfer should be added to the payment methods.
It has many advantages:
1 - Standard. Many people own a bank account without credit card, so they would get many more orders.
2 - Secure. Payment was made before shipping the goods. So no risk for Canonical to never get the money.
3 - Cheap. Since 2003, bank transfers made within European Union (including UK) don't cost more than a national transfer (using IBAN/BIC). So no extra charge apply on buyer's side. And unlike Paypal and credit cards, no charge apply on seller's side (since it's a standard bank transfer, banks can't charge for it).
I have a 100 € order pending for months at Canonical because I have no credit card. I sent them an e-mail asking about bank transfer payments which they never replied to. I'm sure that I'm not the only one suffering from this.
