The choice between single or double-click, currently
in nautilus, should be a global option in gnome (#80859)

bug

In Nautilus I can choose Single Click, but this only a feature of Nautilus.
In the GNOME dialogs Open file, Save file, etc, I must do two clicks!
(In Windows the Single Click is for all system).

Add a blue screen of deth (BSOD)
Written by jmphilippe the 10 Mar 08 at 21:02. Category: Others. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Would be funny to add a fake BSOD which would be activated when pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del or as a screen saver depending on whether windows is still installed or not. There would have to find a funny message. Perhaps something like:

“Ubuntu encountered a fatal error at 0x012345678 in module win32.is.legal.drug: you still haven't forgotten your old bad windows habit of Ctrl+Alt+Del. Please consider using Ubuntu twice more during the next month ;-) if you really want to get cured.

The Ubuntu doctors team.”

And for the screen saver:

“Ubuntu encountered a fatal error at 0x012345678 in module win32.is.dust.software: Ubuntu has found very old software located in C:\windows. Everybody knows it will collapse by itself but we encourage people to do clean it themselves to prove their cleverness. Please register your courage afterwards at http://www.ubuntu.org/i-did-it.html.

May the force be with you!”

Ubuntu web site could then provide a counter for wiped windows all around the world!

LESS IS MORE: gray-ish & thick borders away from Gnome
Written by mikasjoman the 10 Mar 08 at 19:52. Category: Graphics. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I am so tired of having gray menus, gray background, gray buttons etc in the Human theme. Let´s use bright white against black/darkgray text, that makes good contrast and makes the experience bright for all new people coming into Ubuntu.
And a great idea would be, at the same time, to take away the borders of windows since they just take up space for no good reson, cluttering up the desktop experience. Less is more.

don't mix KDE and Gnome application in the menu
Written by Jarvis the 10 Mar 08 at 22:31. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
The problem :
If I install KDE on Ubuntu, many applications (kde and gnome) are mixed in the menu. It's the mess.

A solution :
-to have an option "Create a menu "KDE applications"" in Gnome.

Source package
Written by sundarvenkata the 8 Mar 08 at 18:42. Category: Programming. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
When a source package is downloaded using "apt-get source", provide the actual tools (libraries etc) needed to re-compile the source. Otherwise there is no use hacking the source.

Inclusion of Panda3D Engine into repositories?
Written by pro-rsoft the 8 Mar 08 at 10:41. Category: Programming. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I'm not sure whether this is the right place to place this, but on the IRC they've pointed me here.

Me (and a lot of others) are convinced that the popular Panda3D Engine (rated #4 OSS engine on DevMaster) must be included into the Ubuntu repositories.
The website is available here:
http://panda3d.org
It is actively maintained by both the Disney VR Studio and the Entertainment Technology Center at the Carnagie Mellon University. Its license is available here:
http://panda3d.org/license.php
It is open-source software, and free -- it might not have a standard license but they are working hard to make it MIT.
The license might say it has been judged as non-free; nevertheless it conforms to the Ubuntu Licensing Requirements (it could even be placed in main, regarding the license.)

They provide ubuntu debs at their download page -- but compiling from source is also very easy. It comes with a script "makepanda.py" which can build everything and make a debian package with just one command.

After the installation of ubuntu there should be a script witch will optimize the linux kernel for each individual computer so that we get high speed and responsiveness!
