Make Certain Updates Optional
Written by Kingoftherings the 3 Mar 08 at 23:53. Global category: System. New
By optional I mean, don't have update manager even say they're there unless specified. I don't really mind having all the updates optional, but for new users, a new kernel could create more problems than it solves. One thing I don't like about kernel updates is the fact that it resets the Grub menu.lst. Maybe when you install, you could click like an advanced user option which will give you all the updates, and a new user option that will limit some of the updates.

Written by Kingoftherings the 3 Mar 08 at 23:53.
Ubuntu Brainstorm was updated in January 2009. Since the idea #2932 was submitted before this update, its rationale and solution are not separated. Please vote accordingly, and if you have the necessary rights, please separate the rationale from the solution. Thanks!
