How many times have you clicked an application to find *buntu doesn't know what to do with it? what happens next is real handy, it drops you to your home folder to pick a application! This works for us seasoned Linux folks but wat about the poor newbies? I was thinking that the /usr/bin folder would make more sense but then what do they pick? perhaps a data file with possible applications for tasks that could be upgraded when needed? If the application is not install perhaps a gui link to synaptic or adept etc to install the offending problem?

Keyring should be a great password manager

Ubuntu's keyring facility is nice, but is a far cry from a real password manager. While there are several password manager's in the repository, none of them are very good and none of them are integrated into the keyring. Of the bunch, probably KeePassX is the best.
Seahorse, which is the (optionally installed) GUI to the keyring is good at storing keys, but doesn't handle web site passwords, credit card numbers, etc.
Ubuntu needs a highly secure all-in-one password/key/private note manager. Ideally it would be integrated into Firefox and Thunderbird such that those systems would work with the keyring.

Seriously. This shows you how scared people are of Linux rising in popularity. When someone resorts to vandalizing a website, they have to be pretty upset.

The forums are one of the most valuable resources in the Ubuntu community and we should make it as easy as possible for new users to find them. If you are coming from the windows world it may not even occur to you to look for a forum.
I am aware of the bookmarks to the Cannonical support pages which lead to the forums, but this level of indirection does not give enough credit to the value of the forums.
There should be a link next to the BBC News feed on the default Firefox bookmarks toolbar.
PCLinuxOS has several links on their toolbar including the forum and a site similar to gnome-look.org. I was impressed by this - it felt integrated and helps to draw beginners into the community.
There is a similar precedent; when you start xchat it defaults to opening the #ubuntu channel.

Have a tabletpc edition or install package that will have support for all of the latest tabletpc drivers and include journal software like OneNote in one package.
Also, the handwrite input palette should be included as well as support for easy rotation.

Disable Terminal Server Client's Auto-Reconnect Option

By default, Terminal Server client auto-reconnects when I click the X. At home, I don't logout of my terminal servers because I need to disconnect and reconnect to them all day as I test my websites against Windows workstations. The auto-reconnect option is extremely annoying and is a relatively new feature that used to not exist with previously with tsclient.

On the power management preferences screen it would be nice if the "Blank screen" option actually put the screen to sleep (turn the back-light off).
When I close the lid on my laptop I see no reason for the back-light to stay on. And, for me, having the screen turn off when I close the lid is preferable to putting the laptop into standy or hybernate.

Most of the laptops and desktops today come with dual core or quad core processors. It will be cool if we get the default installer to put in an SMP-enabled kernel rather than the user having to manually go and do it. Guess what, this will also boost the performance of these machines!

I recently switched to linux mint, I must say it is very nice and based on gutsy 7.10.
They use the red hat liberation fonts by default and OMG It looks amazing.
The default ubuntu fonts are painful to look at once you know how good it can look.

In many cases, I can't configure my webcam or I have problems with the microphone. Now I can use my webcam but only with V4L2 and only 3 programas detect my webcam. It's a good idea can use my webcam in all programs as camorama.
Developer comments
That's pure driver issue in the first place. A big plus is to recommend UVC-based webcams to users, since it takes a lot of work off the shoulders of driver-developers. On the
integration-side proper support for v4l/v4l2 in webcam-related applications needs to be solidified. The ideal application to polish up is cheese of course.
