video voice for gtalk protocol on pidgin
Written by yzarc the 11 Nov 08 at 23:15. Category: Others. Related to: Pidgin Internet Messenger. New
I just know that google put video voice capability to the gtalk. Please hurry to port it to the pidgin. It would be one more option (wide used) of video and voice chat for we use with our friends no linux users.

sorry for my English

Locked screen should have a button for a Guest account session
Written by Endolith the 10 Nov 08 at 03:04. Category: Usability. Related to: Gnome. New
If a friend is over and my session has been locked (due to screensaver, etc) there should be a "Guest session" button for them to open the Guest session, so they can check their email or whatever without knowing anything about Gnome or Linux or user accounts.

Currently the locked screen has:

Password: [_______________]
[Leave Message] [Switch User] [Cancel] [Unlock]

I'd say change it to:

Password: [_______________]
[Leave Message] [Guest Session] [Switch User] [Cancel] [Unlock]

I shouldn't need to log in just so that someone else can launch a Guest session.

Thumbs in File Requester
Written by tenplus1 the 11 Nov 08 at 09:49. Category: Usability. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Could you add a thumbnail view in the file-requesters or open dialogs so that I dont have to open gthumb/f-spot to check the photo filename before sending to someone in Pidgin or attaching to an email...

Full-feature context menu for files/folders in gnome open/save dialog
Written by smani the 10 Nov 08 at 18:57. Category: Usability. Related to: Gnome. New
It would be nice if the open/save dialog in nautilus would support the full context menu when rightclicking files or folders, i.e. if one can move, rename, delete, ... filesystem objects. It is always sort of annoying having to open an extra nautilus window to go to the folder one already is in to i.e. rename the new folder one named the wrong way.

This shouldn't be to difficult to implement, essentially it would be enough to recycle the file-list of the normal nautilus browser, and redirect the "file->onclick resp. folder -> onclick" functions and evv. filter the items according to the requirements, i.e. of the type of file to be opened. This would also greatly simplify the development of the file browser, as (from what I know) not two separate index versions have to be mantained, but there would just be one, and changes to it would reflect both the normal nautilus browser as well as the "reduced" open/save browser.

Closing programs via Window List before they've started
Written by unimatrix the 9 Nov 08 at 11:43. Category: Usability. Related to: Gnome. New
The idea is to be able to close a program, WHILE it is still loading, by right clicking on it in Gnome toolbar (Window List applet) and selecting "Close".

This is useful when you accidentally run a program that takes a lot of time and CPU to load. In MacOSX you are able to close it before it is loaded. This should be possible in Linux too.

Suggested solution: Right clicking on the loading program and selecting "Close" should get the PID of that program and kill it.

Have Transmission use emblems on folders to show you the state of a download
Written by Aphoxema the 8 Nov 08 at 15:48. Category: Usability. Related to: Transmission. New
It would be very helpful to, well... myself and I'm sure other people if Transmission would set emblems on folders or files based on what they're doing. It could set one emblem when the download starts and one when it's completed so you know when it's safe to relocate the folder or file without having to go back and forth from Transmission.

The most useful thing about this is it doesn't depend on Transmission to be running to keep you informed on the status of the file, you wouldn't have to open transmission to see if that file you just started downloading and forgot about was done or not.

Evolution Calendar - Drag&Drop Appointments
Written by sessorbsed the 8 Mar 08 at 22:18. Category: Office. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Implement the drag & drop action on appointments between days.

Ex : We are monday, I click on my appointment at 10AM and drag it on any day in the calendar on the left to move it. It will appear that day at 10AM.

Really really handy.

Like in Outlook :'(

:-D
