I think that only a few people now need a specific tool for format floppys...
i think should be removed or replaced with a tool that can format other types of removable devices like pendrives, memory sticks or hard disks.

UPDATE
Thanks to the community. Feature was allready implemented (alt+mbr)!
I use Alt+Mousedrag a lot to move windows around in gnome.
I would like to have a feature like this for resizing as well.
Problem is that resizing with the mouse is sometimes a bit tricky (window might be bigger than screen, no task bar to access context menu with right click etc).
For example CTRL+Shift+Mousedrag (or Alt+Rightmousedrag) would work nicely i think, as ctrl and shift are really close to each other and i do not know any application that uses this combo.

The standard linux filesystem starts with / as opposed to c:\.
To encourage windows users, there be a way to spoof the look of a windows style filesystem. The idea is to alias root as C:\ and mounted drives under other letters, and show reverse slashes throughout the filesystem. To a windows user, the / root is intimidating, and the "reversed" (from their perspective) slashes are a different look and a strange feel to adapt to. This change is a good opportunity to make users feel at-home.

Hello Friends!
Ubuntu has come a long way and can now be called the undisputed king of HOME LINUX. Lets go a step further and make ubuntu more desirable and irresistible.
Ubuntu can be made customer specific or to be more precise 'It should be customized as per the requirements of the user'.
Like some of us feel that instead of movie player, we can have VLC player as a default player. Some feel WINE should be pre-installed and while some feel Ubuntu should not have open office and ekiga by default and so on.....
I suggest that the company promoting Ubuntu should have a plan wherein users can demand for their customized ubuntu and demand for the features they want as default.
This will make Ubuntu more user specific and may increase its popularity.
For providing this, the company must charge the users a price. This will increase their revenue too.

Both great programs, both open source.
It's not a real Ubuntu issue, but I still miss them, altough I last used them 3 years ago (when my primary system was Windows).

Applications menu should hide the unused items

The Applications menu can get very crowded if you have a habit of exploring every software in the repositories. After a while, finding an app becomes really hard among all those icons which i barely use, rendering the menu kinda useless..
the unused icons should be collapsed together and only show the ones that are used frequently...

For years I used ubuntu on a wireless desktop and it works fine. Why does wireless not work in 8.04? I cannot understand why something not working anymore in a new distro. My wireless internet is very slow (10%) on 8.04.
I think its a good idee to let things work in the new distro so it did in the last distro. On Ubuntu 7.10 I had 'out of range' problems on my lcd screen. In 7.04 not.
What worked in the last distro let it work in the new distro and than make inovations. Thats my idee.

I love Ubuntu. I think it's a superior, reliable, efficient operating system.
But the biggest reason I don't run it all that often? Software availability - there are too many packages that I depend upon in winXP that I can't (reasonably easily) run in Ubuntu. Photoshop. Some games. Etc. I know there are analogs of many of these in Linux, but we may need the real thing. I don't see too many photo tutorials for the GIMP vs. Photoshop, for example.
If we want Ubuntu to gain wide acceptance we need better commercial software availability. I see two possible answers; I'm not sure whether either of them are specifically about the *core OS*:
- Work with major SW manufacturers to make Ubuntu/Linux versions. Games, photoshop, etc. Now that Dell sells Ubuntu, we need to get the SW end mobilized to gain OS acceptance.
- A better emulator than WINE. Sorry, it's too hard to use and I should be able to install a Windows SW package in Ubuntu in some virtual layer just like its running XP - but without an XP license.
The OS is pretty damn good as it is. Get the SW availability up and you've got major momentum for its adoption.
