I think more Windows users would try out Ubuntu if they could just double click an .exe file instead of going into a command prompt, browsing to the folder and then typing "wine *.exe" to install the program.
I like how Ubuntu adds shortcuts on the desktop and the "start menu" after you install the program making it easy to run but installing Windows software needs to be easier.

DRM warning

Unfortunately there are many people who get scammed into paying for DRM-crippled media which is heavily restricted.
I have heard about people who got scammed and wasted lots of money, then reformatted their computer and none of the media they had payed for would play, and others who were unable transfer the media to their portable media players, or use the media in their car stereo.
Therefor I recommend to warn users about the dangers of DRM.
I have made a a couple of conceptual mockups. The basic idea is to make the user aware that the media he have is DRM-crippled, and to inform him about the DRM and how it restricts him.
This is just a conceptual mockup. It could be better and more informative. Perhaps less intrusive.
* Browsing files with Nautilus (notice the icon/emblem)
* Checking file properties in Nautilus
* Warning in Rhythmbox (if playback failed)
* File properties in Rhythmbox
* Icon in Totem (non-obtrusive)
* Warning in Totem (if playback failed)
* Error in VLC (if playback failed)

average person needs wizards across the board...
get rid of this package manager crap and make it easy with a installer wizard.
i had a look at a few pages and didnt see this on the list and its so important to linux being successfull.... why is it so hard to make linux user friendly?
help wizards for all is my call...
if it was easier to use more people would use it...its improved but not enough...

I find it hard to resize windows. The borders are not big enough to grab easily. I think it would be good if there was an extra invisible gap of a few pixels around the borders that you can grab on to so you don't have to visually make the borders thicker.

I'd like to see packages made like msttcorefonts or flashplugin-nonfree to install programs made for Windows. These programs could be uncompressed and installed into the background (like win-apt tries to do it), and then stored into a .iso file (or .tar.gz, .zip, etc.). These programs must be available for the all of the users and include a launcher. This launcher must create a directory (like .wine) for every program installed, then mount this .iso file (or equivalent) into File Programs and finally launch the program. Some tweaks to make this program work could be stored into this ".wine" directory or into "/etc" instead.
Developers of these programs should be encouraged to integrate their programs with Linux (specially when the user needs to load or save a file, just like a Java application). WineHQ team could make an API available to get this (if this API doesn't exist).
I'd like to see uTorrent and Windows Live Messenger working like this.
