Search the program menus
Written by data the 16 Oct 08 at 15:27. New
It would be great if you could search inside the menus of the programs.
For example: Search "print" and the menu item "Print File" should open.
Mac has this ability, and it is great.

Brainstorm: Be able to sort ideas ascending & descending
Written by picpak the 29 Feb 08 at 02:55. New
So we can quickly see the latest and oldest submitted ideas. We'd be able to find more ideas we like that have been ignored.

The old advanced search in Brainstorm was much better
Written by Fixman the 8 May 09 at 22:23. Category: Website navigation. New
I remember the advanced search in Brainstorm before its redesign: it had so many, many options, including different orderings for your searched posts, etc.

The new Advanced search has 2 options: what keywords, and what tags to use. Is that really advanced?

Solution #1: Improve the new Advanced search
Written by Fixman the 8 May 09 at 22:23.
Some new features - specially some "order by" option, are really needed.

Solution #2: Go back to the old Advanced search
Written by Fixman the 8 May 09 at 22:25.
The new advanced search hasn't really many options. It would be a good idea to use that is like to old one, by having a separate screen, etc.

Stop displaying total votes. End the pecking order.
Written by clubsoda the 15 Nov 08 at 19:12. New
Correction: Title should read "Stop displaying 'Overall Quality of User's Ideas'. End the pecking order."

I think that showing each contributor's vote tally and imposing a ranking on that basis is counter-productive to a healthy brainstorming session. For sure, competition can inspire people but it also inspires attempts at gaming of the voting system and results in a proliferation of idea-piggybacking duplicates.

I'm not saying it should never have been this way, and no doubt it helped get things cooking when the forum started out. However we've reached critical mass already, with many more ideas per day than could possibly be implemented. Disputes and dissatisfaction over the allocation of duplicate votes can be reduced by removing the incentive, while also relieving some of the auditing burden for moderators.

If we need a metric, perhaps a better one would be "average number of votes per idea", i.e. quality over quantity. However that may simply encourage a wave of populist ideas. I propose that the contributor ranking be removed entirely. [By all means retain the lists of everyone's ideas and votes so that those who like to add up their net worth may still do so.] :)

PS: Absolutely no disrespect intended to Eldmannen or any of the other high achievers under the current points regime.

new rating system for brainstorming (1 to 5 choise)
Written by cougarten the 22 Mar 08 at 11:05. New
the current voting sytem supports older ideas more than newer ones.
Maybe there should be a mixture between a rating of 1 to 5 (stars or whatever) and the total amount of positive votes.

Overall rank of number of ideas
Written by nq6 the 1 Jun 08 at 16:56. New
What is the position of your mind? She is the first? It is popular?

79 th best idea - My idea 1 st
279 th best idea - My 2 nd idea
7,279 th best idea - My idea 3 rd
8,928 th best idea - My idea 3 rd

It would be very interesting a general ranking of number of ideas. A second way of classification. This view could be included in My dashboard

Add the ability to attach multiple threads and bugs in Brainstorm
Written by zeker the 18 Mar 08 at 21:48. New
Be able to attach multiple threads and bugs if they apply to an idea in Brainstorm.

Pretty self-explanatory.

Currently you can only attach a single bug or thread, whereas there are often multiple attachments that could be made (particularly in the case of threads)
