Make a official Ubuntu Music player
Written by Wookielover1978 the 19 Mar 12 at 05:51. Won't implement
Since Apple has iTunes and Microsoft has the Zune software. Ubuntu should have its own music player like those two other operating systems. Canocial should make its own music player since Rythumbox and Banshee are not cutting it.

You can even tie it into the Ubuntu One music store.

Solution #1: Ubuntu's very own music player
Written by Wookielover1978 the 19 Mar 12 at 05:51.
Again tie the new music player with Ubuntu One music store and make a music player that works and can burn CDs in a better fashon.

Solution #3: Choose existing player as an official media player
Written by puxkggn the 22 Mar 12 at 13:46.
Choose an existing player as the main media player on Ubuntu. Canonical could make sure it works and test it thoroughly. This could also be a good example if the media player chosen is open source for other players. On how to integrate different things.

Also there is already a default music player which actually makes it the official media player for Ubuntu.

Increase Sound Menu functionality: song progress slider
Written by Lionthinker the 29 Jan 12 at 18:44. New
The sound menu at the top right only has volume control.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and need to repeat sections.
Also it would be nice to repeat parts of songs without having to open the music player.

Solution #1: Sound Progress slider
Written by Lionthinker the 29 Jan 12 at 18:44.
In the Sound Menu bar below or above the volume scroller, place a progress slider.

Simple as that.

Create a standard interface for remote control of media players
Written by markush the 10 Apr 11 at 09:54. Won't implement
Remote control of media players via smartphones is often not easy. At the moment for every media player someone has to create an app that can control it. This leads to the fact, that this app is often just available for either android or iphone (as is the case for banshee, which cannot be controlled over iphone at the moment). The other possibility is, that people have to reimplement remote protocols over and over again, and I think a lot of development effort is wasted, and we would be better off if developers agree on one method.

Solution #1: Get big projects as rhythmbox and banshee to work on a common way
Written by markush the 10 Apr 11 at 09:54.
This could lead to a library, which handles the exchange of the media player data and the smartphone commands. So media player developers would just have to care about integrating the library, and smartphone app developers would just have to focus on the interface with the library. This should lead to less development effort and better results

Solution #2: Use DACP as standard and use the work already done for rhythmbox
Written by markush the 10 Apr 11 at 09:57.
One could agree on using DACP, which is the protocol the iphone remote app uses to control itunes. This has already be implemented into a rhythmbox plugin, where a lot of the research on how to do the pairing process is already done. However, someone would have to check copyright issues when using DACP

Too many artists with only one song in artists list
Written by CorvusS the 29 Apr 11 at 18:44. Not an idea
If you have many 'Various artists' compilation in your music library, your artists list is full of artist with one song.
You don't usually search for these items and they make the list too long and inconvenient to browse.

Solution #1: Group artists with low number of songs to 'Various artists' group
Written by CorvusS the 29 Apr 11 at 18:44.
Add option to automatically group artist with only one song (or possibly configurable number of songs) to one item labelled 'Various artist'. This item would be placed as second item in artists list, right after 'all artists'.

Add option to disable song information for indicator applet
Written by Eviltinkergnome the 8 Jun 11 at 04:36. Not an idea
Would like an option to disable Artist and Song information popping up in the indicator applet in Gnome. Listening to online radio stations with Banshee has the tendency of popping up information way too often, getting in the way of my work.

Solution #2: Make a seperate settings screen for notifications
Written by MsG the 18 Jun 11 at 23:12.
Make a seperate settings screen for notifications, for controlling which program is allowed to use the notifications, and which you don't want to pop up and stuff.
