Playing music - save power

When I'm traveling, I sometimes want to listen to music and just that. The computer is turned on and use a lot of power, when the only thing I do is listening to music.

Click a button, and all other applications, daemons etc. shut down, just the musicplayer is open. Click another and the screen is turned off until another key is pressed.

I don't know if it's technicaly possible, but One-thing-to-do mode for some popular tasks would be very useful.

For instance :

* music-mode
* film-mode
* internet-mode
* one-game-mode
* …

There is no need to have music mode, the kernel should keep everything as energy efficient as possible, at every time.
