Increase Sound Menu functionality: song progress slider
Written by Lionthinker the 29 Jan 12 at 18:44. New
The sound menu at the top right only has volume control.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and need to repeat sections.
Also it would be nice to repeat parts of songs without having to open the music player.

Solution #1: Sound Progress slider
Written by Lionthinker the 29 Jan 12 at 18:44.
In the Sound Menu bar below or above the volume scroller, place a progress slider.

Simple as that.

Some songs in our music library must be played in sequence
Written by saeioul the 1 May 11 at 23:55. Not an idea
Despite having the feature of "shuffle by album" enabled in most media players, there are times that we dont want to listen to the whole album of some artist, but still, there are songs that are meaningless if played alone (some songs are intro of other songs)

I personaly feel anxious when the shuffled playlists plays a song that is the intro of another.

Solution #1: Marry-me song plugin
Written by saeioul the 1 May 11 at 23:55.
I Propose a plugin for banshee (the official media player for ubuntu) in which you can Marry a pair of songs (or maybe more ;-) ) by right-clicking on some selection and selecting the "link" or "marry" option in the contextual menu.

This action should notify the player that whenever the shuffled playlist steps into one of those selected songs, the reproduction must go though the fist one, then the second selected and so on.

Solution #2: Join-me song plugin
Written by kuluizemp.openconscience the 2 May 11 at 00:49.
i think the idea is great but i think marry-me is very mythological saying , like a fantasy created by human brain imagination ..however imagination is nice even fantasy but we need 2 distinguish brain modeling with infinite possibilities 2 real possibilities that are not always perceive and understand but we need 2 wake up from the dream 2 the real and its real possibilities .. so i say perhaps join-me

or bring-together..

Add option to disable song information for indicator applet
Written by Eviltinkergnome the 8 Jun 11 at 04:36. Not an idea
Would like an option to disable Artist and Song information popping up in the indicator applet in Gnome. Listening to online radio stations with Banshee has the tendency of popping up information way too often, getting in the way of my work.

Solution #2: Make a seperate settings screen for notifications
Written by MsG the 18 Jun 11 at 23:12.
Make a seperate settings screen for notifications, for controlling which program is allowed to use the notifications, and which you don't want to pop up and stuff.

better media browser in Banshee
Written by pseudo the 17 Jun 11 at 13:16. Not an idea
Unlike in iTunes, Winamp or Rhythmbox, it's not possible to have a genre filter in Banshee. The only way around is a smart playlist. For some people a genre filter is a very important feature.

Solution #1: make the browser customize-able
Written by pseudo the 17 Jun 11 at 13:16.
-possibility to add a Genre filter between the Artists and Album filter
-more customize-able media browser (hide/show filters)
-Winamp is a good example

Solution #2: A new media player
Written by nirvanauta the 8 Jul 11 at 07:52.
Even my phone music player is visually more attractive and easier to use than banshee amarok and rhythmbox together.
Take a new perspective a do an all-new music and video player.

Banshee side panel too messy
Written by ahtnos the 30 Apr 11 at 03:52. Not an idea
The side panel in Banshee media player can be a bit overwhelming. There are a lot of entries, many of which aren't related to what the user is currently doing. While categories can be collapsed, there is no way to avoid having all the entries in "Libraries" and "Online Media" be displayed. These end up competing for space with, for instance, music playlists, and generally make it harder to visually parse the contents of the side panel.

Solution #1: Implement "switcher" similar to Evolution
Written by ahtnos the 30 Apr 11 at 03:52.
Evolution has a side bar with two sections; a folder list (while in email view), and a switcher. The switcher allows the user to select Mail, Contacts, Calender, etc. I think that this same setup would be a good fit in Banshee. Categories could be Audio, Video, and Online Media, for instance. Audiobooks and Shared Media could be put in the new Audio category. Podcasts and Radio could go in Online Media. Of course, exactly what categories to have and what goes where isn't that important. The important thing is that there are some sort of categories.

This would would not only make things more organized, but could allow for other features as well. For instance, each "view" could maintain its own state. Say I'm watching a movie, when I suddenly realize I have to write up a report. I pause the movie and switch on some music to help me concentrate. When I'm done, the movie is still paused in the video view, and I can go right back to it.

Volume Still Controlled By One Master Level
Written by ginjaninja405 the 7 Mar 11 at 01:24. New
Volume, even with it's recent advances, is still System-wide and when changed, it affects all applications. This does not give freedom to mute Music quickly to watch an online video, or turn down any annoyingly distracting sound effects that may come from an instant messenger.

Solution #1: Allow Volume Changes At Application Level
Written by ginjaninja405 the 7 Mar 11 at 01:24.
Use a backend like PulseAudio and integrate Volume sliders listing vertically into the Sound Menu. This will give users much more control. Only display applications that are creating sound, and link the sliders on the Sound Menu with any volume sliders in the application. By default, have them hidden, but create the capability to click a drop-down box to reveal them.
