Simplify the text of the "Now Playing" notification in Banshee
Written by zach4618 the 22 Oct 09 at 07:27. New
When a new song starts playing in Banshee, a notification pops up to tell you the name of the new song/artist. The top line tells you that the song is "Now Playing" however this is redundant, since it is pretty obvious that a new song has started. My suggestion is to delete the top line and bold the song title instead. Rhythmbox notifications already appear this way.

Solution #1: Delete the "Now Playing" text

It is unnecessary and should be removed. Remove the top line from the current notification, and bold the song title instead.

This shows how Banshees design wastes precious screen space.

Solution #1: Change the design to my proposed design or something better

This is my proposed redesign which gives more space to viewing the actual song list and not toolbar grey space.

Solution #2: Remember size of artists/albums/playlist sections

The first thing I do when launching Banshee is readjusting the SplitPanes (or whatever they are called in Mono).

Solution #3: Remove the Music/Videos/Podcasts label that appears above the browser
Written by zach4618 the 17 Nov 09 at 06:18.
There is no need for it since the far left pane already highlights the media that you are browsing. Also, it does not appear consistently. ie: the Now Playing and Last.fm sections do not have a label.

Make Banshee "next track" button more intuitive
Written by pwnedd the 22 Oct 09 at 18:41. New
When shuffling is enabled, the Banshee "next track" button changes to a shuffle icon. For users who do not expect this (e.g. after setting the shuffle-mode through the "playback" menu), it may not be clear that that same button is the "next track" button.

Solution #1: Separate "next track" and "shuffle" buttons
Written by pwnedd the 22 Oct 09 at 18:41.
The "next track" button should always look like a "next track" button, the same way that the "previous track" button always looks like a "previous track" button. A separate button could be included (e.g. next to the repeat settings button) to toggle shuffling.

Solution #2: Slightly modified icon incorporating next and shuffle
Written by robinparriath the 1 Nov 09 at 15:46.
Something like ~> instead of >. Will alert the user to the shuffling of tracks and could be much easily implemented.
