Audacity has become too complicated for casual users
Written by greggr the 29 Mar 10 at 04:08. New
When I first began to use Ubuntu (Breezy) Audacity seemed simple and worked well. Indeed one of the main reasons I liked the format I found and began to use Ubuntu, was the ease with which I could transfer my vinyl and tape collections to a digital format. At present the application seems to have become pretty daunting for the casual user and no longer seems to work for me.

Solution #1: Simplified audio transfer/recording editor
Written by greggr the 29 Mar 10 at 04:08.
How about a simple audio editing application aimed at users who are non-professional and only want to transfer fairly simple audio projects to digital format? I'm thinking here of what is happening with the replacement of X-Sane with Simple Scan in 10.04. I suggest that the option be open to transfer the results for further editing into Audacity, Jokosher, Traverso, or a similar editor such as Simple Scan clients can now transfer to Gimp or similar.

Give the editor a simple but powerful audio priority interface which determines the sound system in-use as default.
